Shirley Ballas branding Bobby Brazier ‘the king of ballroom’
Bobby Brazier’s grandmother Jackiey Budden has had her say after she was reportedly “banned” from watching him perform at Strictly Come Dancing. The 66-year old was not invited to attend in the studio as Bobby competed in the semi-final.
It comes after claims were reported that Jackiey was “banned” from attending due to a long running family feud. She is the mum of Bobby’s late mother Jade Goody, who died from cervical cancer in 2009.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Jackiey has opened up about not being able to watch her grandson perform. She said: “Unfortunately I haven’t seen Bobby live. I would have loved to, but it’s just one of those things. I’ve been supporting him from home, watching every moment.”
Meanwhile, Bobby has had plenty of support from his father Jeff Brazier who has attended numerous live shows. Jeff met Jade Goody in 2002 and they had two children before parting ways in 2004.
He has previously expressed his pride at watching Bobby “become a man.” Speaking as a guest on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, he said: “It’s really exciting at the moment. It’s relentless, sometimes he comes home and can’t even string a sentence together!

“But he’s loving it. Dianne is a very special person and I’m so glad he’s been partnered up with her. She’s been amazing. […] I don’t think he would’ve learned as much as he thought he would have. But he’s got a really good attitude. I feel like I am watching my son become a man!”
Jade died from cervical cancer aged 27 in 2009, just seven months after she was diagnosed. Since her death, The Sun has claimed that there is a long-running rift between both sides of Bobby’s family.
A source told The Sun: “There is a lot of friction between the Brazier side of the family and Jackiey for several long-standing reasons. But viewers have been surprised not to see Jackiey in the Strictly audience as she is Bobby’s grandmother.

“The prospect she is now facing is either not getting to see Bobby before he exits the semi-final, or not being allowed to watch him in person if he makes it to the final and wins the glitterball.”
Prior to her death, Jade shot to fame after appearing on Big Brother at the age of 20 and came in fourth place. Bobby and his younger brother Freddie were just five and four years old when their mother died, but they were given a final message before Jade’s passing.
In a photo album of her life, she wrote: “Dear Bobby and Freddie – I have asked for this book to be made so that when you are older you can remember just how much fun we had.
“I thank God that we made the most of our time together and I treasure the moments we shared. These are my most precious memories. Some person much wiser than me once said that if you never discovered something you would die for, then you haven’t lived. Well, you are both proof that I have lived. I will love you always. Mummy.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One tonight at 7.30pm.
