Strictly Come Dancing: Craig Revel Horwood makes ‘savage dig’ at injured Neil Jones as he says Kevin Clifton and Alex Scott’s ‘accidental partnership is working wonders’

Craig Revel Horwood made a sly dig at injured Strictly Come Dancing pro Neil Jones during Saturday night’s live show.

The judge, 54, was giving comments to Alex Scott and Neil’s temporary replacement Kevin Clifton and claimed the pair’s ‘accidental partnership is working wonders.’ 

Critiquing the pair after they danced the American Smooth to Marvin Gaye’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Craig said: ‘I felt we saw you for the first time tonight I really do and I have to say this accidental partnership is working wonders.’

Fans took to Twitter to show their dismay over Craig’s comments, as they critiqued him for ‘throwing shade’ at the injured dancer.

One viewer wrote: ‘I really love Alex but I really don’t agree with Craig about the partnership. I miss Neil and I love watching them more. Voting for her so I can see her with Neil next week.’

Another added: ‘Wow. That ‘accidental partnership’ quip but Craig was extra savage to Neil.’

Supporting Neil, one fan said: ‘Craig tryna say he doesn’t mind the Alex and Kev partnership. We do lol We love Kev but we want Neil back.’

Neil is currently unable to compete alongside Alex after getting a grade one strain in his calf, which has meant he needs to use crutches until he’s fully healed.

Continuing to praise Alex’s performance alongside Kevin, Bruno Tonioli said: ‘What I like, I like to see how you’re growing in confidence, you’re selling it! 

‘It’s getting better everything is getting better, what you have to work on is musical phrasing which means linking every section of the choreography without breaks, you have to keeping going as you do your purpose, but well done!’

While Motsi Mabuse admitted she was ‘falling in love more and more’ with Alex’s dancing, as she’s seen a ‘huge improvement’ during her time on the show.

Shirley Ballas went on to add: ‘What you are today is miraculous, your frame, your centre line, there was a small mistake at the end, [but] a very good performance and you are a delight to watch.’

The pair’s impressive performance saw them earn a grand total of 31 points, which meant they place in the middle of the pack.
