Liverpool went back to the top of the Premier League and became the only side left who have a 100 per cent record after another thrilling weekend of action.
The Reds saw off Southampton 3-0 at Anfield with a minimum of fuss, and stayed top after Chelsea could only play out a goalless draw at West Ham the following day.
Manchester City caught the eye as they moved just two points behind Liverpool by hammering Cardiff 5-0 , while at the bottom there was a huge win for Burnley as they climbed off the foot of the table by beating Bournemouth 4-0 at Turf Moor.
All of that means that there were plenty of contenders for Stan’s XI of the weekend, but here’s who made it in.
David de Gea (Manchester United)
Where would United be without him?
De Gea made two key saves from Wolves ‘ Raul Jimenez and Willy Boly to ensure that the home draw against Wolves didn’t get even worse.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Still looking as though he’s been Liverpool’s right-back for years, the England youngster turned in a fine display against Southampton that included an assist.
Joel Matip (Liverpool)
What a leap!
Matip caught the eye when he jumped above Southampton’s giant defender Jannik Vestergaard to score on what was his first start of the season for the Reds.
Issa Diop (West Ham)
Turning in a performance which belied his 21 years, West Ham’s summer signing was excellent in subduing a Chelsea side who came to the London Stadium with a 100 per cent record.
Danny Rose (Tottenham)
Tottenham were desperate for a win at Brighton and the performance of Rose was one of the main reasons why they got it.
Declan Rice (West Ham)
They love this 19-year-old at the London Stadium and on Sunday it was easy to see why.
He was also the only player on the pitch to have come through Chelsea’s academy!
Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City)
The German oozed quality on a rainy day in south Wales, with his superb finish the pick of a wonderful Manchester City’s five goals.
Aaron Lennon (Burnley)
How great is it to have Aaron Lennon back to his best?
The Burnley winger scored his first Premier League goal since March 2016 in the Clarets’ 4-0 hammering of Bournemouth, and set up another goal for Ashley Barnes.
James Maddison (Leicester)
How much longer until we see James Maddison in the England set-up?
He’s started the season brilliantly for Leicester , and his stunning free-kick against Huddersfield changed the game just when it looked to be heading for a draw.
Sanchez’s struggles, Salah’s backheel and angry Burnley: 10 talking points from the Premier League weekend
Diogo Jota (Wolves)
It was Joao Moutinho who scored a brilliant goal for Wolves, but the performance of Diogo Jota really caught the eye at Old Trafford.
He gave Manchester United problems all afternoon, and it is hard to believe he’s only 21.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
Always crucial to everything Manchester City do, Aguero underlined just how much they missed him in the Champions League defeat to Lyon with a goal in the victory at Cardiff .
He’s unstoppable on his day.
