Sophie Gradon’s mum has accused ITV for ‘exploiting the vulnerable’ as she branded Love Island a ‘theatre of cruelty’ after a Jeremy Kyle guest’s death.

Deborah weighed in on the outcry for Jeremy Kyle to be axed in light of Steven Dymond’s death less than a week after he failed a lie detector test on the show.

The mother, whose Love Island star daughter was found hanged at home last year, branded ITV’s shows ‘sickening’ for ‘preying on vulnerable people’ in a Twitter tirade.

‘It sickens me’: Sophie Gradon’s mum slammed ITV for ‘exploiting the vulnerable’ as she called Love Island a ‘theatre of cruelty’ after Jeremy Kyle guest’s death

She wrote: ‘Exploiting the susceptible, using someone unfairly for your own advantage, imposing on their vulnerability. This sickens me to the pit of my stomach.

Deborah claimed producers had approached Sophie to appear on Jeremy Kyle following her stint on Love Island in 2016.

She added: ‘When will this misuse of the vulnerable stop, it’s the most eveil & puerile form of entertainment #SophieGradon #JeremeyKyle #STOP.’ (sic)

She went on: ‘It’s a Theatre of bloody cruelty and it’s no coincidence that #SophieGradon was actually approached and asked to appear on the #JeremeyKyle show to continue the fiasco of the #LoveIsland ignominy. Shame on you #ITV.’

MailOnline has approached representatives from ITV for further comment.

Sophie was found hanged in her home in Ponteland, Northumberland in June last year by her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong and his brother Ryan.

Mr Armstrong was found dead aged 25 at his own home just 20 days later in the same circumstances.

Love Island’s Sophie, who died aged 32, had binged on cocaine and alcohol before her death, an inquest heard.

The hearing was also told she was struggling with the death of her close friend Paul Burns.

While they did not attend the hearing, her devastated parents Deborah and Colin have disagreed with the inquest verdict.

They said their daughter had an undiagnosed brain injury called Arteriovenous malformation (AVM), that can affect a person’s reasoning abilities.

Sadness: The mother, whose Love Island star daughter (pictured in 2016) was found hanged at home last year, branded ITV’s shows ‘sickening’ for ‘preying on vulnerable people’ in a tirade

They told The Sun Online: ‘We needed more time to research and talked to a leading psychiatrist and neuroscientist.

‘They both unanimously agreed that Sophie’s cerebral and cognitive reasoning would have been influenced by the presence of the AVM in her brain.

‘We believe Sophie started to become symptomatic in December 2017. We noted an acute change in her personality and behaviour.

‘Sophie was convinced she had ADHD and would often complain ‘that her brain wasn’t working right’.’
