Sir Tom Jones has made a defiant return to the stage after his illness, telling fans he is feeling “strong”.
The star, 78, made his first appearance since being hospitalised with a bacterial infection last month. He told the crowd: “We finally made it. Or I finally made it. We tried once before and we did not make it but we are here now. Strong.”
He added: “We have had a ball up here tonight and we hope you have too.”
The singer, who played at Chester Racecourse on Sunday, also paid tribute to late wife Linda. She died of cancer aged 75 in 2016.

He said: “So I started going to dance halls. I spied a young girl there and I thought I had to get with this girl.
