Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer, 58, has hit out at a social media user who aimed a blow at the guest chefs on Steph’s Packed Lunch, by pitting them against each other. Taking to Twitter, the acclaimed chef stamped out any suggestion of kitchen rivalry when he responded to a tweet from a fan of the show, who wondered which chef made the best food.
It’s not a competition

In a video posted by the Channel 4 lunchtime show, John Whaite sat down to tell all about his time as resident chef on the popular show.
Titled, Ask Me Anything, John opened up about how he landed the job alongside the blonde-haired presenter, which sees him cooking lunch for the TV host.
However, one social media user wanted to find out who out of all the show’s chefs, including John, Freddy Forster and Simmon Rimmer, which was the best one.
Commenting underneath the interview, they wrote: “There was one question that nobody appears to have asked, whose the better chef, John, @FreddyForster or @simonrim?” (sic)
They also posted a laughing emoji and #StephsPackedLunch.
Upon spotting the observation, the Sunday Brunch host felt compelled to set the record straight about the relationships between the chefs on the show.
Simon wrote: “It’s not a competition.”
He went on to add: “All have our strengths and weaknesses,” before ending the comment: “Love all the other chefs.”
Steph McGovern welcomes a host of different chefs onto her Packed Lunch show including Sunday Brunch’s Simon, Bake Off winner John and Freddy.
Indeed, the guest chefs have a history of aiming cheeky jibes at each other, but always emphasise that it’s purely “banter”.
Days ago Simon was ribbed by co-star Freddy as Steph joked that the Sunday Brunch star makes the “best food” on the show.
Simon was left stunned when Freddy unzipped his jacket to reveal Simon’s face on his T-shirt after first saying that he felt hot in the studio.
Steph was gobsmacked by the specially made top and confessed: “I did not know anything about this.”
“You know what they say, keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer,” he quipped.
“But I must say for anyone who hasn’t seen this ongoing, what are we calling it?” Steph asked.
“Bit of banter,” Freddy remarked, referring to his rivalry with fellow Packed Lunch guest Simon.
“Banter,” Steph continued. “Between Simon Rimmer and our other chefs because I said, ‘Simon Rimmer makes the best food on the show.’
“And since then there’s been quite the fight going on but there we are, it’s all friendly.”
“All friendly,” Freddy confirmed and she added: “I love the idea of you getting that from a shop.”
“You know me, I had it personally made,” the TV chef revealed.
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays from 12.30pm.
