Shaughna Phillips says Love Island scenes were edited to look ‘completely different to how they happened’

Love Island’sShaughna Phillip has shared her surprise over some of the editing on her series of the reality show.

The 25 year old democratic services officer said “certain parts” of the show were “completely different to how they happened” in the villa compared to how they were portrayed on screen.

Shaughna, who recently hit back at a troll who accused her of having surgery in lockdown, has shared her views on some of the editing on the ITV2 show, which has been postponed until 2021.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the blonde beauty opened up on how the show is edited.

She said: “You know what happens behind the scenes, and you know the ending, so it’s a little bit boring watching it back.

“Also there’s certain parts that have been shown on TV that were kind of completely different to how they happened.

“Because I know that, I don’t really want it to taint any of my memories that I’ve got.”

Shaughna continued: “It’s more so the editing. The way that they edit the show is amazing, because when you’re living it, you don’t actually realise it’s going to be a TV show. They do actually work wonders because we were very boring sometimes.”

The reality star then gave an example of the scene when she told Callum Jones, who recently asked Molly Smith to be his girlfriend, how to reject Rebecca Gormley, by co-writing a message for Callum to recite.

Shaughna has insisted the scene was much more lighthearted than the one we saw at home, which left her “cringing” when she re-watched it.

She explained: “Me and him were literally crying with laughter the whole time that was happening.

“It was just a big laugh, a joke,” she said. “It looks so serious! I was cringing, I was thinking: ‘Oh my god, that girl needs help!’ It was so completely…

“I must have said some of the things for them to have been able to chop it and cut it up, but I don’t ever remember saying it. It’s like I was watching something I’ve never seen before.

“It’s so strange, I just really did think that it would be the only thing that I ever watched, ever.

“But if someone made me sit and watch a Casa Amor episode, I think I’d gouge my eyes out.”

Shaughna may not have enjoyed watching parts of the main show, but she revealed she liked watching the Unseen Bits episodes, which aired on Saturday nights.

The stunning blonde said: “I like the unseen bit clips episode.

“They’re funny because they are just us being us, really. It’s almost like You’ve Been Framed.

“They remind me of funny bits I would’ve forgotten or that I wouldn’t have seen, because I wasn’t there. Them episodes I think I’ve probably watched most of.

“I’ve watched a few episodes, but when I was out there, I did think: ‘I can’t wait to come back and binge it all.’ But it is very different watching it.”
