Scarlett Moffatt has pulled out of the Great North Run just minutes before the start time – after only raising £150.
The 28-year-old TV presenter and reality star told fans she wouldn’t be taking part in the 13-mile race but didn’t give a reason, promising she’d definitely do it next year instead.
But a look at her GoFundMe page shows how Scarlett has raised just £150 of her £5,000 goal for the Angel Trust, of which she’s an ambassador and founding member.
Just 12 people had pledged money to the telly favourite in the last three months, but Scarlett has vowed that they’ll all get their donations back if they contact her charity directly.
In a note on her page, Scarlett said: "Unfortunately I can no longer take part in this year’s run – instead I will be doing it next year.
"Thank you all so much for your donations. I have matched donations to date and have closed the donations on this page. I completely understand if you want your sponsorship back, which you can do by contacting the charity directly."
Earlier this year, Scarlett had been full of beans about running the prestigious half-marathon course.
"If you said to me ‘Scarlett you’re going to run a half marathon 13.2 miles’ I’d have laughed and said I can’t even run a bath! I’m the kind of person who doesn’t even go on long walks let alone run," she’d written to her potential sponsors.
"I’m now an Ambassador for my very own charity, in my very own hometown. This charity means soooooo much to me as I’m able to help so many people. This charity is so varied it doesn’t just help one person, one group of people or one organisation it literally helps everyone hence the slogan ‘A Charity For The People’."
Scarlett is yet to reveal exactly why she’s withdrawn her place in the race, but just five days ago she was singing the praises of her personal trainer James Garrity.
Sharing a snap of them both dressed in gym wear, Scarlett captioned it: "Huge thank you to this lovely one @jamesgarrityfitness for giving me the confidence to start my journey on becoming fit and healthy again!! Anyone who finds getting back on the fitness wagon intimidating give him a follow."
And just last week she posted a throwback picture of herself in a skin-tight red dress, writing to her Instagram followers: "Throw back – motivation for me to kick start my health kick."
Scarlett has been honest about not loving the way she looks recently.
She lost three stone during filming for her fitness DVD, but was slammed for her ‘unsustainable’ methods.
Scarlett then regained much of the weight she lost, and recently hit back at trolls for criticising her appearance.
"I’m honestly ashamed of some people on here," she tweeted in July.
"Hard to pretend I’m ok and be a good role model to others about how it’s ok to just you when the comments from grown adults on here have resulted in me crying my eyes out! I hope you’re very proud of yourselves."
She went on: "No wonder the amount of people including myself with social anxiety is increasing. Feel like I can’t even film tv shows without hating the way that I look after – from constantly being attacked because of my size and my appearance!
"Feel like I need to speak out for others!! This is not fair this needs to stop!! Please to the people out there who aren’t loving themselves right now please don’t let other people stop you from doing what you love. Real beauty shines from within."
She added: "I wanted and felt like I had to write that tweet to let you know at the end of the day I’m a 27 year old girl with feelings & a family who get upset also when they see vile comments about my appearance. Something needs to change with our society!!"
