Robert De Niro made his displeasure with Brett Kavanaugh‘s Supreme Court appointment known at the Children’s Diabetes Foundation’s Carousel of Hope Gala on Saturday.
“Now, one reminder,” De Niro, 75, said while receiving the Brass Ring Award in a video captured by TMZ.
“The drinks, wine and beer are flowing. But, be careful — if you have too much, you may end up on the Supreme Court.”
The remark, made just hours after Kavanaugh was confirmed and sworn in as a Supreme Court justice, was met with applause and a smattering of laughter.
Kavanaugh, 53, was appointed to the Supreme Court after a contentious hearing about his alleged sexual assault of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.
During the hearings, Kavanaugh’s drinking and self-proclaimed love of beer were frequently addressed.
It’s not the first time De Niro, an outspoken Democrat, has used an awards stage to trumpet his political stances.
At the Tony Awards in June, the “Goodfellas” star earned a standing ovation when he famously said onstage, “F—k Trump. It’s no longer ‘down with Trump’. It’s f–k Trump.”
