Rihanna WON'T be paid for her half-time Super Bowl performance

Rihanna WON’T be paid for her half-time Super Bowl performance where she announced her second pregnancy during the show with a bump reveal

It is likely the biggest audience she will ever play to during her career.

Yet Rihanna won’t receive a penny for her epic Super Bowl half-time extravaganza, where she revealed her second pregnancy with boyfriend ASAP Rocky on Sunday.

The singer, 34, has apparently declined the invitation to perform on several occassions before finally taking to the stage this year.

It is thought that around 200 million will have watched the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

Previous stars to perform during the slot have included Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Justin Timberlake and Coldplay.

Not a cent! Rihanna won’t receive a penny for her epic Super Bowl half-time extravaganza, where she revealed her second pregnancy with boyfriend ASAP Rocky on Sunday

While you might expect that this kind of gig comes with a big pay cheque, performers never receive any money for their show.

It is customary for the stars to perform for free due to the fact they are playing to the biggest audience of their career, which will impact their sales in a huge way.

In 2017 following her set, Lady Gaga saw her album and single sales rocket by 1,000 per cent.

Meanwhile, JLo gained 2.3million new followers across her social media platforms following her performance with Shakira in 2020.

In 2022, a whole host of legengs including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and 50 Cent performed together.

After the show, Dr. Dre saw his album sales increase by 183 per cent.

During the performance, the nine-time Grammy Award winner confirmed she is pregnant with her second child after surprising fans with a baby bump during her highly anticipated comeback at the Super Bowl 57.

Rihanna, who gave birth to her first child just nine months ago, sent social media into a frenzy as she took to the stage and rubbed her tummy in front of a global audience of millions.

She shares her first child, who was born on May 13, 2022, with the rapper A$AP Rocky, who kept a low profile at the event. The two have kept their growing family under the radar, and so far neither musician has shared the name of their child.

A representative for star confirmed the baby news shortly after the performance finished.

It marks the first time she has performed on live television since 2018, where she joined DJ Khaled on stage to sing Wild Thoughts at the Grammy Awards.

Rihanna started off the show suspended on a platform high above the field as she belted out her single B**** Better Have My Money. She was dressed in a baggy scarlet jumpsuit that covered up her curves and was strapped loosely on her.

The hitmaker paired the suit with a set of chunky red trainers. The platform she was suspended on then descended toward the field, where she joined a bevy of dancers in white on stage.

She kept her dancing moves to a minimum while letting the backup dancers pick up the slack.

Rihanna stuck to the hits and didn’t reveal any new songs during her performance, which featured 12 songs. She had the crowd going wild as she transitioned into Where Have You Been, followed by the hit Only Girl (In The World).

We Found Love, Rude Boy and her hit Work followed, though her collaborator Drake wasn’t featured on the later song. She continued with Wild Thoughts and Pour It Up.

The hitmaker made some controversial song choices, including an excerpt of her verse from the rapper Kanye West’s All Of The Lights, and she also performed part of Jay-Z’s Run This Town, which also featured West in its original version.

West was disgraced after making numerous anti-Semitic comments, including reportedly praising Adolf Hitler.

Rihanna concluded her performance with the one-two punch of Umbrella and then Diamonds as the closer.

She eschewed some of the pyrotechnics of recent Super Bowl halftime performances and seemingly bet that her fans would be happy to see her without the added theatrics.

The superstar, who was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has not released a solo album since January 2016. Her only solo music in the last seven years came in October, when she released Lift Me Up in tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman for the Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which earned the singer a nomination for an Academy Award.

Although Rihanna’s partner A$AP Rocky (real name: Rakim Mayers) stayed out of the spotlight for most of the game, he put on a sweet display by showing he was rooting for his love.

The rapper took to the field in a black jacket paying tribute to the Work singer that that featured her tattooed hand rising from a cityscape while holding a football.

His jacket also included an American flag and an NFL logo, and he rocked a Fenty cap as well to support Rihanna’s brands.

Rihanna’s pregnancy reveal was surprising, as she previously told Apple Music’s Nadeska Alexis before the performance that she had been hesitant to sign on to the performance because she had recently given birth.

‘I was like, “You sure? I’m three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this,”‘ she said, via The Hollywood Reporter.

‘When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world — you can do anything,’ Rihanna continued. ‘And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was … there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all.

‘It’s important for my son to see that,’ she added.
