Actress turned physician Jessica Campbell died at the age of 38 in late December just moments after seeing patients, according to the woman’s family.
The actress, who is best known for co-starring with Reese Witherspoon in the indie hit 1999 film Election, was complaining of congestion before passing out in a bathroom, her family told TMZ on Wednesday.
It is currently unknown what caused Campbell’s death but COVID-19 is suspected. The results of an autopsy by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner have not yet been shared by her family.
Shortly after news of her death broke, Reese posted on social media: ‘So heart broken to hear this. Working with Jessica on Election was such a pleasure. I’m sending all my love to Jessica‘s family and loved ones.’

The Oklahoma native leaves behind a 10-year-old son Oliver and her husband of 11 years, Daniel.
Jessica was in Portland, Oregon at the time of her death.
Campbell was visiting her mother and aunt when she went into the bathroom and never came out, her cousin Sarah Wessling told the site.

Her aunt went to the bathroom to check on Jessica and saw her passed out on the floor.
She tried to revive the former actress but she could not get her to respond.
When EMTs arrive they tried as well, according to the site, but were not successful,
Earlier that day Jessica had told her family she felt congested and thought she was getting a cold but did not think it was COVID-19.
Before visiting her family, Campbell put in a full day of work seeing patient at her naturopathic practice.
She had given up acting several years ago and was working as a naturopathic physician. Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine that employs an array of pseudoscientific practices branded as natural, non-invasive, or promoting self-healing.
Her first professional acting role was in the 1992 TV movie In the Best Interest of the Children, where she played Julie Cain.
In the film Election, Jessica played Tammy Metzler, the younger sister to the character played by Chris Klein.

Jessica also starred on the hit TV show Freaks And Geeks.
And she popped up in 2001 film The Safety Of Objects opposite Glenn Close and Dermot Mulroney.
Her last project was the 2002 movie Junk with Mary Kay Place.

‘Listening to her talk, excitedly recounting her tales at a mile-a-minute, one could be forgiven for thinking “is this b*tch for real?” But she was in fact for real and there was no one else like her.’
The family told the site that Jessica has been cremated and ‘they are planning a memorial.’
She has done well: Reese has been in the hit shows Little Fires Everywhere, Big Little Lies and The Morning Show, all of which she produced, and has the Draper James line
