Nicole Scherzinger looks awkward and offended during a trainwreck interview on The Project as she offers host Waleed Aly one-word answers
Nicole Scherzinger has packed out stadiums, sold millions of albums and performed on London’s West End.
But on Wednesday, the 41-year-old Pussycat Dolls star was left unimpressed during a cringeworthy interview on Australian TV show The Project.
Nicole looked quite offended by a series of bizarre and poorly-researched questions, including one about fighting with her bandmates over ‘tube tops’.
Oh, dear! Nicole Scherzinger looked awkward and offended during a trainwreck interview on Australian TV show The Project on Wednesday
‘When you guys are backstage, do you guys fight over who wore the best tube tops and low rise jeans?’ host Waleed Aly asked.
Nicole looked confused by the question – which was seemingly a joke about the Pussycat Dolls’ early 2000s style – and offered a one-word response: ‘No.’
The awkwardness continued when Waleed and his co-host Carrie Bickmore joked about how he’d misheard the lyrics to the Pussycat Dolls song When I Grow Up.

Apparently, Waleed was convinced the chorus included the line ‘I wanna have boobies’ instead of the actual lyric ‘I wanna have groupies’.
Nicole seemed puzzled by the odd confession, saying ‘yeah, cool’ dismissively.
In an attempt to get the interview back on track, Nicole conceded that many fans had misheard the lyrics at the time.

Later on, she was asked about the Pussycat Dolls’ performance on The X Factor UK in November, which had garnered dozens of complaints due to their racy outfits.
‘We put that together in three days and those outfits were a bit provocative,’ Nicole said. ‘But we are women now… It takes courage to wear that stuff.
‘We always do everything with confidence. We dancing hard like warriors.’
The segment ended abruptly with music playing while Nicole was still speaking, before the show cut to a commercial break.
‘One of the most reductive interviews I’ve seen’: Twitter erupted following the cringeworthy interview, with fans overwhelmingly taking Nicole’s side
Twitter erupted following the trainwreck interview, with fans overwhelmingly taking Nicole’s side.
‘The Project is filled with a bunch of talentless left-wing try hards that try humour when it’s either inappropriate or simply not funny,’ one person wrote.
Another added: ‘The Project is a buffoons fest…utter superflogs stroking each other. Nicole is a class act.’
A third viewer raged: ‘Nicole Scherzinger was just subjected to one of the most reductive interviews I’ve seen on the project.’
