Prince Harry has reportedly returned to the US to reunite with his pregnant wife Meghan Markle and son Archie.

The 36 year old has spent the last week in the UK to attend the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip, coming face to face with the Royal family for the first time since he and Meghan, 39, sat down for an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It is believed that Harry flew into Los Angeles International Airport — known as LAX — on an American Airlines flight at 1:30pm local time, leaving the private terminal.

Photographs obtained by MailOnline show the Duke of Sussex's Cadillac Escalade puling up to the Montecito home he shares with Meghan and Archie around two and a half hours later.

Harry's return to the US means he will miss out on The Queen's 95th birthday, which is being celebrated privately by the Royal family on Wednesday.

The Queen's birthday falls within the 12 day mourning period the family have entered following the death of Prince Philip, meaning no official portrait of Her Majesty will be released.

It is understood that the Royal family are working on a "rota basis" to ensure The Queen is not alone on her first birthday without her husband.

It was reported earlier this week that Harry was considering delaying his return to the US to stay for The Queen's birthday.

Following the late Duke of Edinburgh's poignant funeral service at Windsor Castle on Saturday, things seemed to be looking up for the Royal family as Harry, his brother Prince William and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton were spotted chatting together.

It was then reported that Harry spent two hours having peace talks with his brother and father Prince Charles following the service.

With claims that Harry had booked an open return flight to Los Angeles, a source told The Sun: "If all goes well, he could stay for the Queen’s birthday."

A separate source told the publication of Harry's reunion with Charles and William: "It's early days but you'd hope this is exactly the first step Philip would have wished for.

"It is not known what was said behind closed doors and when the cameras were turned off, but it's unfathomable to think Megxit and Oprah did not come up.

"Harry and William appeared cordial as the cameras rolled and that seemed to pave the way for Charles to join them when everyone had left."

It is also reported that Prince Charles stayed behind with his sons for an hour after his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall had departed.
