Prince Harry and Prince William are reportedly to split their joint household Kensington Palace soon. A new report suggests the division is needed as the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle are expecting their first children which means they need a bigger space for their soon-to-be growing family.
The two British princes have been sharing the home following the death of their mother Princess Diana. After Harry’s royal wedding to the former “Suits” actress, the two have been living at adjacent Nottingham Cottage in the Palace.
However, the quaint cottage only boasts two bedrooms and two reception rooms and a bathroom. It’s deemed too small for them once their baby arrives. With that being said, the brothers are allegedly to split the much larger Kensington Palace where William, Kate Middleton and their three children are currently living.
“They are planning a formal division of their joint royal household, which is based at Kensington Palace, and the creation of separate courts to reflect their increasingly different responsibilities,” a source reveals to The Sunday Times newspaper (via RadarOnline).
“The brothers have leant on each other and looked after each other since their mother died,” adds the source. “But now they have their own families, they no longer rely on each other as before.”
Meghan and Harry announced the pregnancy news on October 15, just hours after the royal couple landed on Australia. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in New Zealand, the last leg of their first royal tour.
On Sunday, October 28, the couple visited the Maranui Cafe in Wellington where they met youngsters from a number of mental health projects in New Zealand offering support through helplines, social media, web sites and school programs.
