Earlier this month, bad parenting got a new poster boy in Ray Donovan actor Marion “Pooch” Hall, after he allegedly got drunk and let his 2-year-old son drive him home, rather than, oh I don’t know, literally ANYTHING ELSE besides letting a toddler drive. Pooch was arrested for DUI and felony child endangerment. TMZ says that Pooch has recently been formally charged for that night, and he’s looking at a felony child abuse charge.
When police got to Pooch and his son earlier this month, they found a vehicle that had just crashed into a parked car in Burbank. Pooch’s son was sitting on his lap, and his blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. DCFS got involved and launched an investigation. Pooch has officially been charged with felony child abuse and DUI. Even without being drunk and letting your kid work the wheel while you alternate between the gas and the brake, Pooch’s car wasn’t a great place for a toddler. When Pooch was arrested, there was a car seat in the backseat of the vehicle, but it wasn’t installed.
Pooch faces a maximum of 6 years and 6 months in prison. Pooch’s son, Djulian, is currently in the care of his mother, along with his three older siblings Djaeda, Djordan, Djanai.
Pooch showed up in court today and pled not guilty. He also told the judge that he’s entered a 60-day residential rehab program. The judge reportedly told him that when he’s finished his program, he’ll be ordered to seek outpatient treatment and attend two AA classes per week. Um…nothing about taking a driver’s ed class yet? Just to refresh him on the do’s and don’t’s of the road? Actually, scrap that – the only lesson he needs is how to install Uber on his phone.
