Luca and Michael’s meeting has been weeks in the making. The fishmonger only got the chance to meet Gemma’s mum Louise during Love Island’s meet the family episode.
Michael maintained a low profile during his daughter’s stint on the infamously racy ITV2 show, after initially admitting it was ‘a father’s worst nightmare.’
But after the show came to an end this month, Luca and Gemma wasted little time in flying out to Portugal to meet up with Michael and the rest of the family.

Things seem to be going well as Michael has started following Luca on Instagram after the trip.
And Luca is already comfortable with teasing Gemma’s dad, taking to the comments on Michael’s latest post.
The sportsman posted a photo to Instagram on Monday which showed him posing with his wife Louise, and children Jessica, 12, Emily, 14, and James, 16.
He captioned the shot: ‘Family -1’ in reference to Gemma being absent from the snap. Gemma, meanwhile, typed: “I was there for 4 days and you wait til I leave to get a family picture” (sic).
Luca was quick to also mark himself as part of the family, writing in the comment section: ‘ -2.’

Following Gemma and Luca’s second-place finish, Luca’s family were quick to congratulate the couple, posting a snap of them together with a gushing caption.
It read: ‘Thank you SO much from the bottom of our hearts for all of the support you’ve shown this gorgeous couple. So excited to continue watching your journey from the outside. You really did win by finding each other.’
This was in stark contrast to Gemma’s Instagram, which noticeably only posted solo snaps of the brunette beauty in the lead-up and following the final, with beau Luca noticeably absent.
Celebrating! Later the Love Island couple were in great spirits as they headed out solo to party, with Gemma happily greeting her pals
Happy: The couple couldn’t hide their smiles as she checked out some local bars together, keeping close during the stroll
Sharing a solo snap of Gemma clad in a nude ruched gown, her loved ones penned the caption: ‘Words can’t describe how proud we all are of Gemma.’

‘We are passing this back to Gemma now… We have loved running her account and being part of her @loveisland journey. We can’t wait for what the future holds.’
Eagle-eyed fans at home were quick to notice this, and took to Twitter to suggest that Gemma’s family were not overly fond of Luca and that they were doing ‘damage control’ to protect Gemma’s brand.
