Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson‘s relationship may have moved even faster than previously thought: According to a new interview with Davidson in GQ, the couple were dead serious about their lifelong commitment to each other from day one.
“The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,’” the comedian, 24, told the magazine. “She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, ‘Do you like any of these?’ She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’ and I was like, ‘Sick.’”
That first-date conversation resulted in a $93,000, three-carat pear-shaped diamond ring that Davidson gave to the pop star in June, just a few weeks after they began dating. It took jeweler Greg Yuna, also known as Mr. Flawless, two weeks to make the ring — which suggests that by the time news broke that Grande and Davidson were “casually dating,” the “SNL” star had already ordered the pop star’s custom sparkler.
“Pete called me at the end of May and said, ‘Look, I’m getting a ring. This is what I want,’” Yuna told E! News. “And I told him that I had the right ring for him. He didn’t tell me who it was for but told me to keep it a secret. He didn’t tell me anything about it.”
As for how Davidson could afford such an expensive piece of jewelry? Hollywood insiders told The Post that celebrities often get discounts and deals for their rings in exchange for providing tons of publicity. One source, however, speculated that Davidson might not have gotten a discount for Grande’s ring. “I think that was an organic deal, [with the price] maybe a little inflated for the story,” the insider shared.
Davidson also told GQ that he and Grande haven’t really started planning their wedding, but that it is “definitely going to happen, for sure.”
“The universe works in weird ways,” he added. “All I know is that I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”
