Normal People becomes the most popular BBC Three show EVER with 6.8 million people tuning into the first episode of the captivating drama
Normal People has become the most-watched BBC Three show ever.
The drama, which follows the complex love story of Marianne Sheridan [Daisy Edgar-Jones] and Connell Waldron [Paul Mescal], has won over the hearts of fans.
The first episode of the drama has now been watched by 6.75 million devices just two months after it aired, making it the most popular programme on the channel ever.

Normal People follows Marianne and Connell as they navigate the difficulties of social and class dynamics during their time at high school and college.
The much-loved show has also broken the record for the most sex ever shown in a BBC series, after 41 minutes worth of intimate moments were aired throughout.
Although Normal People was originally a BBC Three show, the programme was also shown weekly on BBC One.
BBC Three already has several success stories under it’s belt, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag and Ruth Jones and James Corden’s Gavin and Stacey.

While some fans have even joked about the amount of people who will be ‘sliding into Paul’s DMs’ after capturing the heart of viewers with his gut-wrenching portrayal of Connell.

Talking about how she was cast in the show, Marianne star Daisy revealed that she discovered the part after her boyfriend helped her friend with the audition.
