So it comes as no surprise that Nicole Kidman brought the old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet as she attended the premiere of Being The Ricardos in Los Angeles on Monday night.

The actress, 54, looked ethereal in a flowy Armani Privé gown as she was joined by her on-screen husband Javier Bardem at the star-studded film launch.

Nicole looked stunning as always in the strapless grey number which featured a tulle skirt and jeweled detailing at the chest.

She accessorized the look with plenty of jewelry including a diamond-encrusted necklace and dangling earrings combination.

The Amazon film Being The Ricardos is a true story about the stars behind the classic sitcom I Love Lucy, Lucille Ball, and Desi Arnaz, as the film follows the power couple as they face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.

So who are the modern-day actors portraying the quintessential players behind the beloved sitcom?

Nicole had the perfect signature red hair with old Hollywood curls as she contrasted her porcelain skin with a swipe of bright ruby red lipstick. 

Ball was an American actress, comedian, model, studio executive, and producer as she portrayed the protagonist in the classic sitcom.

She was nominated for 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning five times, and was the recipient of several other accolades, such as the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The new Amazon Studios movie centers on a single production week of the 1950s sitcom I Love Lucy and focuses on the relationship between Lucille and her co-star Desi — who played Lucy and Ricky Ricardo in the comedy respectively — and Nicole revealed that the project helped her get to know ‘the woman behind the lipstick’. 

The Bombshell actress explained: ‘I fell in love with her as I was reading the script. I realized what she was doing (was) trailblazing for women.’

Javier also revealed that he knew little about his character despite the popularity of I Love Lucy in the actor’s native Spain.

The 52-year-old star shared: ‘I was obsessed with him and his skills as a comedian, as a person, as a producer and a musician at that time while being a foreigner in this country.’

Sorkin recreated an iconic I Love Lucy moment in the film with Ball stomping on grapes during a winemaking scene and Nicole was determined to perform it to perfection.

She said: ‘It was my obsession to get it absolutely accurate. It was his obsession to have this human being portrayed — what’s behind the creation of Lucy Ricardo and who is the woman behind this character?’ 

Sorkin recently told The Hollywood Reporter that Ball and Arnaz’s daughter Lucie Arnaz urged him not to sugarcoat the story of their marriage and their classic series.

‘We all had lunch together, and she said to me, “I know my mother wasn’t an easy woman,”‘ he recalled. ‘”Take the gloves off.” In other words, you can go for it.’ 

Despite some concerns that Kidman and Bardem didn’t look enough like their characters, the writer–directror said the film was more about the real-life figures than the characters they played on the TV. 

‘I think that the people thought that we’ve cast them as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo,’ the Trial Of The Chicago 7 director told Entertainment Tonight in February. ‘The film takes place during a production week of I Love Lucy — a Monday table read to Friday audience taping, with a whole bunch of long flashbacks which are telling the story that got us here — and because there’s a table read, there’s rehearsals and then there’s tape night, we do see moments of them being Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.’  

Being The Ricardos is to premiere this Friday in the US, before streaming on Amazon Prime from December 21.
