Dang, Nicole Kidman!
The Big Little Lies star has completely given up the glam for her latest project, a cop drama called Destroyer.
Writer-director Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, The Invitation) shared the first closeup pic with Vanity Fair on Tuesday, and it is HAUNTING! Look (below)!

Kusama explained the look, saying Nicole was playing a character who “wears her ugliness on the outside, all that smallness and bitterness.”:
“We always knew that what we wanted her to look like was a real middle-aged woman with a past that she wears on her face. With sun damage and sleep deprivation and stress and rage, just in her whole physical body.”
Innerestingly, despite her use of prosthetics in The Hours, this is not something Nicole is a fan of. Kusama recalled:
“Ironically, she also hates being in the makeup chair. She just wants to be on set working. So we had to make it as short an application as possible.”
Will the transformation pay off during award season? It certainly has the release date for it.
Destroyer, which costars Tatiana Maslany, Bradley Whitford, and Sebastian Stan, will premiere at TIFF in September and will hit theaters on December 25 — just in time for Oscar contention…
