‘Our family’s prayers are with everyone affected’: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban donate $500,000 to Australian bushfire services

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have joined an army of celebrities donating to the Australian firefighting efforts.  

Speaking to Studio 10’s Angela Bishop in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nicole said her family are ‘devastated for Australia’ and have pledged $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are currently battling the inferno.  

Keith also announced the couple’s generous donation via Twitter, writing: ‘Our family’s support, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia.’

‘We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now,’ he added.   

Keith included a list of links to websites where fans can also donate much-needed funds to the bushfire fighting efforts.  

The powerhouse couple have donated generously to bushfire relief over the years, having pledged $500,00 to Victorian firefighting efforts in 2009.

In 2018, the philanthropic duo donated $100,000 to Nine’s Fighting For Our Farmers Drought Relief Appeal.

Nicole and Keith’s large donation on Sunday came hours after pop-star Pink, real name Alecia Beth Moore, pledged the same amount.

The 40-year-old singer-songwriter said she is ‘totally devastated’ in an impassioned Tweet, and is pledging her $500,000 donation directly to local fire services.

Popular Australian comedian Celeste Barber has meanwhile raised $19million (and counting) with an online fundraiser to help victims battling the raging bushfires around the country. 

WAG Rebecca Judd has meanwhile donated $50,000 to those who had lost their homes. 

The glamorous 36-year-old took to her Instagram on Friday to reveal that she had donated money to bushfire victims and encouraged others to do the same.

‘I’m raising money for The Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund’: Celeste took to Facebook on Friday to announce that she’d set up a fundraiser, which originally raised over $5 million before soaring to past $12million

Former Australian Idol star Ricki-Lee Coulter is also raising funds for those affected by the raging fires.

The 33-year-old singer, who has raised over $8,000, set up a donation button on her Facebook page on Friday.

The national bushfire death toll reached 23 on Saturday, and more than 1,500 homes have been destroyed in bushfires this season across New South Wales and Victoria.
