Nicki Minaj has been at the top of her game for a decade. However, following the release of her most recent studio album, Queen and her engagement and subsequent marriage to her husband, Kenneth Petty — Minaj has taken some much deserved time off.
Now, Minaj has returned to the spotlight with an influx of videos and photos on her Instagram and Twitter pages. She’s also released a new single, “Yikes” and she has been sharing more intimate details of her personal life in a way she has never done previously.
From possibly confirming her pregnancy to giving fans a glimpse at her look-alike little sister, the “Super Bass” rapper is letting us back into her life.
Nicki Minaj has been focused on her family
Many celebrities have been open about the toll the spotlight takes on their personal lives. After getting back together with her childhood sweetheart, Kenneth Petty, Minaj decided it was past time for her to take some time away from the public eye.
However, it seems like she initially made her decision out of frustration. On September 5, 2019 — the “Anaconda” rapper tweeted, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, [X] in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
Thankfully it appeared that the rapper just needed some time away. In October 2019 she clarified her tweet. “It was really about the fifth album,” she said. “Where do I stand with it now? I didn’t know my fans would act like that with the tweet. It hurt my feelings because I feel like the way I did it was maybe insensitive to my fans. But I didn’t think people were going to take it — I didn’t know it was going to be that big of a deal, so that’s why I deleted it.”
Nicki Minaj may be pregnant
After her wedding, Minaj went dark on social media for several months. Though she’s back now, many of her posts are focused on her family. In fact, many Barbs are convinced the hip-hop star just confirmed her pregnancy.
On Feb. 23 — Minaj posted a video on her Instagram account her herself and her husband. In the video, Petty was lovingly rubbing Minaj’s stomach. And though he could have simply been showering her with a gentle touch — fans are convinced this is a subtle pregnancy announcement.
Though Minaj hasn’t confirmed anything as of yet, she did say, “Loving my life all 2020.”
Nicki Minaj’s little sister, Ming Maraj, looks just like her
Minaj hasn’t just been showcasing her marriage, she’s also given us a glimpse at other members of her family. She hopped on Instagram to share that she was headed to her homeland, Trinidad with her dad, Robert Maraj and sister, Ming Maraj in tow. She captioned the video, “My Dad & lil sister Ming.”
Since Minaj rarely showcases her family, aside from Petty, fans were delighted and couldn’t get over how much she and Ming look alike. “She looks JUST LIKE YOU!!! BEAUTIFUL,” one fan commented on the post. Another admirer said “She’s so pretty! Just like you❤️.”
