Natalie Imbruglia, 46, reveals that motherhood has given her a sense of peace she had been searching for since she was a child – after welcoming one-year-old son Max
Natalie Imbruglia has revealed how motherhood has changed her and given her ‘peace’.
The singer, 46, welcomed her first child, son Max, one, via IVF in October 2019, at the age of 44.
She told this week’s issue of Stellar Magazine that she had always longed to be a mother.

‘Becoming a parent is the most incredible thing that’s ever happened to me. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl. It’s given me a sense of peace,’ Natalie told the publication.
However the Wrong Impression hitmaker went on to concede that rearing children ‘is not for everyone’.
‘There are stigmas out there for women that if they aren’t parents what does that mean for them?’ she said.

‘I’m also aware of the struggle a lot of women are still going through trying to attain that and what it feels like to be left behind.
‘It’s important to acknowledge all the women out there, including the ones going, “Ugh, another mother talking about how happy they are.”‘
Natalie previously confessed that she felt something was missing from her life – so she turned to a sperm donor to help make it complete.

The Australian has also spoken of her joy at defying the odds by becoming a first-time mother in her mid-forties.
‘I’m used to pushing the laws of probability in terms of what I’ve done in life. I’ve always managed to do things that are unlikely or improbable’ she said.
The former soap star said motherhood is ‘truly magical’ and has filled the void in her life.
‘Looking back I had lovely friends, had been married, a beautiful home and a career that I was proud of,’ she told Baby magazine.

‘But I’d long been at the point where I knew something was missing and that thing became something I yearned for above anything else’.
The singer, known for her 1997 hit Torn, said she was ‘bowled over by the well-wishers’ and is trying to ‘savour’ the time with her baby son.
Natalie, who divorced Australian rocker Daniel Johns in 2008 after a four-year marriage, announced she was expecting on social media in 2019, telling fans: ‘No I haven’t swallowed a watermelon.
‘I’m expecting my first child… I’m blessed that this is possible with the help of IVF and a sperm donor.’

In February 2020, the Australian-British singer revealed how grateful she was after venturing into motherhood in her forties.
Marking her milestone 45th birthday on Instagram, the Torn hitmaker said: ‘My little Max is by far the best birthday present.’
Natalie revealed she was pregnant in July 2019, after undergoing IVF with the help of a sperm donor. She has not publicly disclosed the identity of her child’s father.
