She continued: ‘Yet despite all this, and most importantly, deep down beneath the surface he was suffering from poor mental health – a dark depression that he kept very well hidden from even his closest friends and family.
‘So on the 16th March, overwhelmed and exhausted by his private battle with depression, he made the tragic decision to give up the fight by ending his own life.’
Speaking on This Morning, Montana had suggested that ‘the stress really got to him, and he kind of thought this fame wasn’t what it was cracked up to be, where do I go now?’
‘I don’t know if it was a spur of the moment reason. I don’t know if he had these demons he had to deal with.’
Mike’s body was found in a forest near his home in Essex’ his manager confirmed the tragic news, with police releasing a statement confirming he was found hanged in a park.
Mike’s friends and family were pictured arriving at Christ Church in Southgate, North London on 5 April to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes.
Montana, one of Mike’s closest friends from his time on Love Island, was seen crying as she headed to the service.
The 23-year-old, who spoke at the funeral, was comforted by her boyfriend Elliot Reeder as she prepared to say goodbye to Mike.
Oliva Attwood, Amber Davies, Camilla Thurlow, Jamie Jewitt, and Georgia Harrison were among the first stars seen arriving at the church while Love Island 2018 alum Samira Mighty, Zara McDermott and Ellie Brown looked sombre as they arrived at the service, dressed in black.
