Midway is on top at the box office.
The World War II film debuted with a $17.5 million opening in its first weekend at the box office, according to THR on Sunday (November 10).
The Roland Emmerich-directed film had a $100 million budget, and stars Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Mandy Moore, Ed Skrein and Nick Jonas, and was timed for release in the U.S. for Veteran’s Day.
Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining, opened at No. 2 with $14.1 million, below expectations of $25 million or more.
Playing With Fire came in next at $12.5 million, followed by Last Christmas, which debuted at $11.6 million.
