I AM waiting! Mick Jagger’s partner of nine years Melanie Hamrick drops a not-so-subtle hint she wants him to pop the question by saying she ‘wouldn’t say no’ if he asked her to marry him
Sir Mick Jagger may be facing an awkward conversation with his partner after she dropped a not-so-subtle hint about getting hitched to the renowned lothario.
The Rolling Stone and his partner of nine years, ballerina Melanie Hamrick, have a six-year-old son, Deveraux, and live a ‘full nomad’ lifestyle moving between different houses around the world.
Despite their child together – one of 79-year-old Jagger’s eight children with five mothers – the pair have never publicly discussed the status of their relationship.
Now, in an interview, Ms Hamrick, 36, says: ‘I know there have been lots of, “Are they engaged or aren’t they engaged?” I’m not bothered. I’m neither here nor there.’ But if he proposed, she said: ‘I wouldn’t say no.’
In lieu of an engagement ring, the ex-ballerina wears a ‘commitment ring’ encrusted with diamonds and sapphires.

Jagger had his first child in 1970 with actress Marsha Hunt, now 77
Ms Hamrick first met Jagger, then 71, in Tokyo in February 2014 while touring with her ballet company – she was engaged at the time and Jagger was in a long-term relationship with American fashion designer L’Wren Scott.
Ms Scott took her own life less than a month afterwards, reportedly because of debts and business difficulties.
Ms Hamrick and Jagger were photographed together a few months later.
She told The Times: ‘One of the biggest things we have in common is the discipline and dedication – his passion for his art and his craft and mine for mine.’
After two years of transatlantic dating, Ms Hamrick discovered she was pregnant and had to struggle to balance her career as a ballerina with motherhood.
Ms Hamrick and Deveraux have been welcomed into the Jagger family, including his seven other children – the eldest of whom, Karis, is 52 – plus his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Miss Hamrick said: ‘You’re folded into this world, you adjust, you get used to it and it’s wonderful.’ The wider family are said to be so close that they all spend Christmas together at Jagger’s house on the Caribbean island, Mustique, and share a family WhatsApp group.
The clan is also reportedly planning a ‘massive blow-out’ to celebrate the singer’s 80th birthday on July 26.
Of her jet-setting lifestyle, Ms Hamrick said: ‘I enjoy this schedule. I don’t want to be tied down. London’s my favourite city, so hopefully one day in the future we’ll end up based here, but until then I’m going to just keep going.’
He then wed Bianca Perez-Mora Macias – the only one of his girlfriends he has officially married – and had his second child, Jade Jagger

Then the rocker began a 20-year relationship with supermodel Jerry Hall, with whom he had four children.
The couple had a Hindu wedding ceremony in Bali in 1990 but nine years later, when they broke up, it was found to be legally invalid in the UK.
Their relationship ended when Ms Hall found out Jagger had fathered his seventh child with model Luciana Gimenez.
