Meghan and Harry Will Miss the Queen's Christmas Parties After Palace Insiders Hoped They'd Attend

I know it’s Monday and you’re already exhausted, but time for a quick update on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s holiday plans in wake of the (*breathes heavy sigh*) royal feud. Apparently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will miss both of the Queen’s parties taking place this week, and, per The Daily Mail, have no plans to return to the United Kingdom until the new year.

According to sources, this means the couple will be missing Buckingham Palace’s annual party for royal staff, and will also be a no-show at the royal family’s pre-Christmas lunch. But before you spiral into conspiracy theories, insiders say there was no snub “whatsoever” and that the Queen was well-aware of the couple’s plans and fully understands.

“As the couple made clear a few weeks ago, they are taking some time away together as a family,” a source says. “This means that they will miss Christmas events.”

Meghan and Harry are in the midst of a six-week break from royal duties, and apparently will spend Christmas at “an undisclosed location abroad” with Doria Ragland. There was some hope among royal officials that they’d be back for the Queen’s pre-Christmas parties at the palace, but no such luck. I mean, makes sense…flying home to England for two parties with a baby in the middle of a six-week holiday? Seems like kinda a lot!
