Maya Jama and Rochelle Humes favourites to replace Caroline Flack on Love Island

Rochelle Humes, Maya Jama and Laura Whitmore are reportedly the favourites to replace Caroline Flack as the presenter of Love Island.

Caroline, 40, announced today that she will be standing down from the show after her arrest and assault charge against her boyfriend, Lewis Burton.

Other potential replacements include former contestants Maura Higgins and Amber Gill, Rick Edwards and Emily Atack.

Maura's boyfriend Curtis Pritchard has ruled her out from the line up of potential replacements, as she is appearing on Dancing On Ice next month.

Maya Jama could take on the role having received rave reviews when she appeared on the Spin Off show Aftersun last year.

Amber Gill won the last series, so would be able to offer contestants a good insight, knowing how it feels to be on the show.

Laura Whitmore is an experienced presenter and has replaced Caroline Flack before, on I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! NOW.

Paddy Power also revealed that Emily Atack, who presents Extra Camp, is another favourite.

Today, Caroline wrote on her Instagram story: There have been a significant number of media reports and allegations in regards to my personal life.

While matters were not as have been reported, I am committed to cooperating with appropriate authorities and I can't comment further on these matters until the legal process is over.

"However, Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series 6.

"I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town."

She also thanked her supports for showing "kindness and love" and added "to my boyfriend Lewis… I love you".

An ITV spokesperson said: "ITV has a long-standing relationship with Caroline and we understand and accept her decision. We will remain in contact with her over the coming months about future series of Love Island."

Police arrested Flack in the early hours of Friday, with a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirming the star had been arrested for assault by beating and would be appearing in court before Christmas.

“Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday, 13 December with assault by beating.

"She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 December,” the police spokesperson said.

"This follows an incident at approximately 05:25hrs on Thursday, 12 December after reports of a man being assaulted. He was not seriously injured,” they added.
