Have you been saying Maggi WRONG? MasterChef fans are schooled on the correct way to pronounce two-minute noodle brand… leaving some shocked

It’s one of the most popular and most recognisable noodle brands in Australia.

And on Thursday’s episode of ‘MasterChef: Back to Win’, fans were schooled on the correct pronunciation of Maggi – and it left many scratching their heads.

The stunning moment occurred when a 10-second commercial aired during the show’s immunity challenge and a voiceover pronounced the well-known brand as ‘Madge-y’.

‘Since when did everyone just collectively decide it was pronounced ”Madge-y” instead of ”Mag-ee” or did I just grow up being lied to?’ one confused fan tweeted.

Another asked: ‘Wait, what, I always pronounced Maggi with a hard G.’

Before a third wrote: ‘Most important thing we learnt tonight is how Maggi is actually pronounced.’

Shock: The stunning moment occurred when a 10-second commercial aired during the show’s immunity challenge and a voiceover pronounced the well-known brand as ‘Madge-y’.

However, some fans refused to accept the pronunciation in the commercial, writing: ‘No. The ad is pronouncing Maggi wrong! It’s a hard g, it’s not like magic!’

According to the brand’s official website, the pronunciation of Maggi is dependent on the country. 

The US pronounce it with a ‘hard g’ as in ‘magnet’, but in Australia, it’s pronounced with a ‘soft d’ as in ‘madgee’.

On Thursday’s episode, the remaining contestants faced one of the most unique immunity challenges in MasterChef history: they were tasked to ‘pimp up’ 2 minute noodles.  

Chefs Simon Toohey and Reece Hignell both decided to cook a meal with Maggi brand noodles for the immunity challenge.
