Ahead of the recoupling Sophie told Mike she didn’t want to ‘pressure him’, however she confessed she was keen not to cut her journey in the villa short.
Stood around the fire pit during the recoupling, Mike had a decision to make between his ex Leanne and Sophie.
He revealed: ‘I would like to couple up with this girl as she has been here since the beginning and I believe that her journey isn’t finished and she has the qualities to make any man happy.
Not worried: Ahead of the recoupling Sophie told Mike she didn’t want to ‘pressure him’, however she confessed she was keen not to cut her journey in the villa short
‘Her presence is felt in the villa and it would be a shame to see her go, I’m looking forward to seeing her grow, hopefully she will be happy.’
‘The girl I’d like to couple up with is, Sophie.’
In a teaser for Thursday’s episode of the show, Leanne could be seen telling Mike that he sent her home on purpose to ‘get her out of the way’.
Girl, bye! However in a twist of fate, just one day after ditching Mike, Leanne was sent packing after none of the other boys chose her in the latest recoupling
Choice to make: Stood around the fire pit during the recoupling, Mike had a decision to make between his ex Leanne and Sophie
Leanne called it quits on their relationship with Mike, telling him that she ‘didn’t like him’ after trying her best to catch feelings for the former police officer.
Mike confessed he was crushed by the decision but didn’t hold back in trying to move on after going his separate ways from Leanne, 22.
He admitted he thought he could have a connection with Jess Gale and Sophie, who has been left single after her partner Connor Durman was dumped from the villa during a shock on-the-spot vote.
He revealed: ‘I would like to couple up with this girl as she has been here since the beginning and I believe that her journey isn’t finished and she has the qualities to make any man happy’
Lads: Earlier in the episode he told the boys ‘I’m going in all guns blazing’ while referring to his newly-single status
During a chat in the episode, Sophie told Mike: ‘Just because you two didn’t work, it doesn’t mean it can’t work with someone else who comes in.’
Her comforting words prompted Mike to respond: ‘Why someone who comes in? Why not someone who’s already here?’
Realising what he was getting at, a surprised Sophie was then seen raising her hand to her chest in shock as she flashed a broad grin.
And in a later conversation with Callum Jones when Sophie’s name was brought up, Mike was shown declaring: ‘I’m going in all guns blazing.’
Oh my! Before coupling up with Sophie Mike turned his attention to Jess
‘I am going to crack on. My feelings for Leanne were real. When I feel like the time is right, potentially there could be people in here already that I might be looking at… I feel like me and Jess got on a lot.
‘And I kind of blocked that off. Also, I never really gave Rebecca a chance. I’ve not been able to speak to her at all. And then there’s one more person… Sophie.
‘It’s a sticky one. We all love Connor. But in terms of attraction, I can’t lie, she’s a beautiful girl.’
Keeping his options open, Mike was also seen having a flirtatious conversation with Jess, 20, who he memorably snubbed weeks earlier when she stole him from Leanne.
The pair were chilling in the pool when Mike said: ‘Me and you have a good connection already’ as a smiling Jess listens.
In the Beach Hut, Mike said: ‘I would like to get to know more about Sophie if the opportunity comes to kind of explore that a bit more then I’ll definitely be open to taking it.’
Later that day, Mike had obviously made his mind up between Jess and Sophie, as he ultimately chose to recouple with the Essex native.

The shock recoupling came following the arrival of bombshells Wallace Wilson and Demi Jones, who caused a stir when they entered the villa on Monday and immediately picked three Islanders each to take on a dinner date.
The recoupling saw some major changes in the villa while many of the stronger couples decided to stick with their original partner.
Finley Tapp, 20, decided to stay with his partner Paige Turley, 25, after they both went on dates with the new arrivals during Tuesday’s episode.
Callum Jones, 23, put all his eggs in 25-year-old Shaughna Phillips’ basket, while Luke Mabbott, 24, also stuck with Jess Gale, 21.
Newcomers Wallace Wilson, 24, and Demi Jones, 21, opted to couple up with Rebecca Gormley, 21, and Nas Majeed, 23, respectively.
No way: The clip then showed new boy Luke M reading out a shock text message, saying: ‘Tonight there will be a recoupling. The girl not picked will be dumped from the island’
