Love Island fans were fuming for Casey O’Gorman during Monday’s episode after he was repeatedly pied by the girls in the controversial Snog, Marry, Pie.

The recruitment consultant, 26, had four cream pies smashed into his face after many of the female Islanders were left unimpressed by his treatment of former partner Claudia Fogarty, 28.

Episode scenes echoed last year’s challenge which led to more than 1,500 Ofcom complaints from viewers about how dancer and model Tasha Ghouri, 23, was treated when she was pied three times – with some calling the boys’ behaviour ‘bullying’.

Claudia had fallen for Casey after they were coupled-up just three days before Casa Amor and she remained loyal to him despite his Casa antics, but he has since recoupled with newcomer Rosie Seaford, 28.

And while Claudia was seen in floods of tears over Casey’s decision to move on with someone else, fans insist he did not deserve to be targeted so many times during the challenge.

Unimpressed: Love Island fans were fuming for Casey O’Gorman during Monday’s episode after he was repeatedly pied by the girls in the controversial Snog, Marry, Pie

Targeted: The recruitment consultant, 26, had four cream pies smashed into his face after the female Islanders were left unimpressed by his treatment of former partner Claudia Fogarty, 28 (pictured)

The game sees each Islander choosing a fellow singleton to snog, another to marry before throwing a cream pie in a third’s face.

Casey chose to snog Rosie and marry Claudia during the challenge in an effort to make peace, but Claudia was left infuriated by his choice.

After many of the girls pied Casey in retaliation for his recent actions, Claudia was the fourth and last in line to pie him, with her telling the group: ‘I decided to pie this boy because you can’t have your cake and eat it and I will be no one’s option.’

The situation left many viewers unimpressed, with fans of the show taking to Twitter to express their feelings.

One person wrote: ‘So let me get this straight. When Tasha was pied by the boys they all got in trouble for bullying but crickets when it’s for Casey hmmm.’

Another person posted: ‘Remember last year when Tasha got pied and everyone said it was misogynistic and bullying? Where’s this energy gone for Casey?’

While someone else tweeted: ‘The girls are bullying Casey….OFCOM!’

‘The girls need to stop bullying Casey! He’s done absolutely nothing wrong! He was honest with Claudia from the start,’ shared another person.

Announcement: Claudia told the group: ‘I decided to pie this boy because you can’t have your cake and eat it and I will be no one’s option’

While someone else commented: ‘A lot of double standards and bullying happening in the villa – I feel bad for Casey. Claudia’s so butt hurt.’

Another viewer tweeted: ‘Personally don’t think Casey did anything wrong and the targeting on him in the challenge was borderline bullying’

Someone else shared: ‘Im sorry but that episode of #loveIsland was uncomfortable to watch. The girls and Claudia were borderline bullying Casey. I love Claudia but I feel like it’s gone too far now. How come Tanya didn’t get the same treatment off everyone when she done worse to Shaq with Martin?’

‘What has Casey actually done?’, asked another viewer. ‘Why didn’t they all pie Lana then.’

Another person wrote: ‘Unless I’ve missed something, I don’t know what Casey’s getting all these pies for? As far as I can see, he’s been respectful and he hasn’t lied. They’re on #loveisland for God’s sake!’

‘Casey doesn’t deserve all these pies,’ wrote another viewer, while someone else shared: ‘Every girl is gonna pie Casey cause auntie Claudia.’

Opinion: The situation left many viewers unimpressed, with fans of the show taking to Twitter to express their feelings

Last year’s challenge led to viewers complainging about how dancer and model Tasha Ghouri, 23, was treated when she was pied three times – with some calling the boys’ behaviour ‘bullying’.

The UK’s media regulator, Ofcom, confirmed to MailOnline the regulator received 1,509 complaints on July 19 – and the majority were about alleged misogynistic behaviour from the male islanders towards the female cast, including in the aftermath of the challenge.

Tasha, who was coupled up with real estate agent Andrew Le Page, had three pies thrown in her face, by entrepreneur Davide Sanclimenti microbiologist Dami Hope, and fishmonger Luca Bish after they had accused her of not having good intentions towards Andrew.

The general consensus was that Tasha did not like Andrew as much as he liked her and that she was stringing him along.

Tasha was the left in tears after the boys pushed the pies into her face during the supposedly light hearted game, with fellow Islanders later agreeing things went ‘too far’.

On top of fans using the word ‘bullying, Love Island alum Amber Gill wrote on social media at the time: ‘Gosh I hope Tasha is OK. These boys are basically bullying her at this point.’

Awkward: Casey chose to snog Rosie and marry Claudia during the challenge in an effort to make peace, but Claudia was left infuriated by his choice

The mother of last year’s Islander Gemma Owen also criticised Luca and Dami’s behaviour towards Tasha, saying it was ‘close to bullying’.

Luca and Dami received harsh criticism from viewers for the way they treated Tasha and Luca’s family members said they were left ‘broken’ over the awful comments they received about him.

Later in the show, Dami and Luca apologised to Tasha with Brighton based fishmonger Luca admitting he was ‘out of line’.

He said: ‘I do actually genuinely feel bad right now for what I said and I’m sorry.’

Echoing his words Dami agreed saying: ‘I do support you and Andrew and obviously we have our opinions about everything that happened.’

Upset: Love Island received over 1,500 Ofcom complaints about ‘misogynistic behaviour and bullying’ last year which saw Tasha Ghouri (pictured) get pied three times

He continued: ‘I have said to you I thought you always get away with everything so I just thought it would be funny to say ‘you always get away with everything well you’re not getting away with this pie.’

Before adding: ‘I don’t want it to be like I’m ganging up on you. I actually want us to be friends.’

Tasha hugged both men and they agreed to draw a line under the situation, however fans were left unconvinced the apologies was genuine, believing that viewers may have put them up to it.

It comes as Love Island became embroiled in a ‘toxic femininity’ row after women on the show reduced some of the male contestants to tears.

Viewers of the controversial ITV reality series have been left fearing for the mental health of male stars.

Some fans have accused the girls of hypocrisy for celebrating their ‘sisterhood’ but misbehaving in the same way as the men.

Tanya Manhenga, 22, Olivia Hawkins, 27, and Australian Jessie Wynter, 26, are widely considered the ringleaders in the villa.

Last Thursday saw emotional scenes after the Casa Amor stunt, in which men and women are split up, some being put in another villa and all introduced to new singletons.

Controversy: Love Island is embroiled in a ‘toxic femininity’ row after women on the show reduced some of the male contestants to tears

Shocking: Tanya Manhenga, 22, (pictured) Olivia Hawkins, 27, and Australian Jessie Wynter, 26, are widely considered the ringleaders in the villa

Contestant Shaq Muhammad was left in tears after his on-screen partner Tanya Manhenga went off with another competitor, Martin Akinola. Mr Muhammad was devastated and had to be consoled by contestant Tom Clare.

Ms Manhenga then humiliated Mr Akinola when she led him to believe he stood a chance, only to then publicly profess her love for Mr Muhammad.

Meanwhile, farmer Will Young burst into tears after the women jumped to the defence of Jessie Wynter when he kissed another cast member while in Casa Amor. But none of the women condemned Ms Manhenga.

Olivia Hawkins also rounded on contestant Ron Hall for criticising her, despite footage of her making derogatory remarks about other couples, none of which was challenged by the other women.

In addition, Mr Hall was ridiculed and made to feel he was in the wrong for appearing to encourage his fellow male contestants to give new arrivals in Casa Amor a chance.

Yet the women, led by Ms Wynter, were shown to have done the exact same thing in the villa.

This year’s female line-up has been branded the most ‘manipulative and toxic’ in the history of the show. One male viewer said: ‘I’ve never complained to Ofcom but I have tonight. Emotional abuse and bullying isn’t a joke – Tanya and Olivia need talking to.’

A female viewer wrote on Twitter: ‘I never thought I’d be siding with the men. Some of these women are toxic,’ while another tweeted: ‘Toxic femininity at its finest.’

Sad: Shaq burst into tears on Thursday night’s episode after an explosive Movie Night saw him argue with partner Tanya

Tears: Shaq had a heart-to-heart with co-star Tom after the argument, who comforted him as he cried

Upset: After Tanya ignored Shaq in the kitchen, he left the villa, later crying as he spoke to friend Tom Clare

Another wrote: ‘This women empowerment is too toxic for me. It doesn’t hurt to be self-aware, babe. And a bunch of you need to look in the mirror.’

An ITV spokesman said that contestants are trained in inclusive language and behaviour, creating safe spaces and being a good ally.

During the show, Tanya did not apologise to Shaq for her actions which later led to a clash between the pair that later descended into an almighty row.

Fans slammed Tanya for her ‘self-centred and immature’ behaviour, urging producer’s to send in a new partner for him.

One person penned on Twitter: ‘Shaq crying outside the Villa.. his showing guys have feelings, just we don’t try to show it In front of girls.. Yeah give him the 50k now, he’s won over everyone.’

Another added: ‘Shaq crying actually was upsetting to see… Tanya is very self-centered and immature. He deserves better.’

‘Shaq is way too mature for this game. He deserves so much better,’ a third agreed.

Earlier in the show, Shaq reacted to the Movie Night clip of Tanya kissing Martin, he said: ‘So it was just a peck, yeah, and he went to kiss you? So we’re lying now?’

But Tanya stood her ground and said: ‘If you’re looking for something to be angry about, this isn’t it.’

Anger: Twitter was full of furious commenters after the feud, angry at Tanya’s behaviour and that she made him cry

The confrontation led to Shaq later saying to the boys: ‘I cant lie, I feel like she’s a liar, I feel like she’s full of s**t.’

Tanya became irritated, telling Olivia that she did not know what else to do and she felt she kept having to prove her love for Shaq.

After Tanya ignored Shaq in the kitchen, he left the villa, later crying as he spoke to friend Tom.

Twitter was full of furious commenters after the feud, angry at Tanya’s behaviour.

One person wrote: ‘Tanya is actually the WORST person on #loveisland. Biggest gaslighter and hypocrite. Shaq deserves much better.’

Another added: ‘Tanya don’t deserve Shaq’ while a third said: ‘Tanya continues to prove she is too emotionally IMMATURE to be in a relationship.

‘The emotional manipulation she uses on Shaq to continuously justify her bad behaviour is actually MAD… honestly this whole lot of girls left can be chucked. Well except Sanam.’

Meanwhile, a separate person penned: ‘Not Tanya saying the old shaq is back and she doesn’t like it as soon as he shows human emotion… genuine gaslighting! It’s not an old version of him, he’s just hurt and reacting to your b********!’

Love Island was also reportedly hit with Ofcom complaints over ‘alleged racism and bullying’ towards former contestant on this year’s show Zara Lackenby-Brown.
