Love Island fans brand the girls ‘fake’ and ‘bullies’ after they heckle Maura and Elma from the balcony and then claim they’ll all be ‘best friends’

Love Island proved itself to be a lesson in playground pettiness on Thursday night’s episode as new girls Maura and Elma attempted to enjoy dates with some of the boys, only to be relentlessly heckled by Molly-Mae and co from up on the balcony.

And making things even worse, when the original girls were released back downstairs to meet the new ones, they tried to behave as if nothing had happened at all – with Molly-Mae insisting ‘we’re all really nice’ before telling Maura ‘we’re going to be best friends’.

This came after Maura had enjoyed a meal with Tommy, as well as getting to know Danny and Michael, while their existing flames watched on from the roof.

Mean girls: Love Island proved itself to be a lesson in playground pettiness on Thursday night’s episode as new girls Maura and Elma attempted to enjoy dates with some of the boys, only to be relentlessly heckled by Molly-Mae and co from up on the balcony

Maura was seen laughing with Michael at one point, only for the girls to burst into fits of patronising mock-laughter.

Maura then told Michael that it was in fact making her feel uncomfortable – leading the fans calling the women out on their unwelcoming behaviour, slamming them for being ‘fake’ and acting like school ‘bullies’.

‘Can’t believe how bad the girls acted tonight! They seriously need to grow up. Out of order and so childish. Actually felt sorry for the new girls. Now Mollie Mae has got a taste of her own medicine!!’ one person posted to Twitter, during the scenes.

Another posted: ‘Funny these same girls in 3 months time will be all over Insta and Twitter preaching about Mental Health and online Trolls yet act like 12 year old school bullies. Stupidity at its finest.’

Two-faced? Making things even worse, when the original girls were released back downstairs to meet the new ones, they tried to behave as if nothing had happened at all – with Molly-Mae insisting ‘we’re all really nice’ before telling Maura ‘we’re going to be best friends’

Another wrote: ‘Molly is so two faced wtf went from mocking Maura to giving her a jacket.’

‘So cringe-worthy how two faced Molly Mae and Amber are,’ agreed another.

‘What a bunch of pathetic, insecure girls on #loveisland. Grow up!’ another penned.

Someone else posted: ‘Guys are way nicer to new guys. Girls literally tear each other down toxic af.’

‘All them original girls proper nasty bitches not a fan,’ another posted, followed by: ‘Molly Mae was like a playground bully in that terrace! She goaded the others to laugh loudly etc then attempted to get Amber going when Michael was on the date in the hopes Amber would crack up and go off!! wee bully bitch deserves all the karma in the world.’

‘So jokes this love island episode shows how much girls are mentalist psychos who only care about themselves and will bully other girls they dont even know for self gain, same girls tweeting about how all girls should respect each other,’ another typed.

‘For all the mental health conversations that happen around Love Island, the girls inside are some of the most unnecessarily mean and intimidating bullies tonight. Just embarrassing themselves,’ another wrote, followed by: ‘Why are all the girls acting like bullies and then as soon as the boys tell them to cut it out they start blame shifting? How about stop acting like you’re in year seven.’

Love Island continues on Friday night on ITV2 at 9PM.
