Liam Payne sings with Cheryl lookalike for X Factor duet meant for his ex

Liam Payne performed his new single alongside Jonas Blue and Lennon Stella on The X Factor tonight.

The song, Polaroid, was supposed to be a duet between Liam and his ex-girlfriend Cheryl.

But after they split in the summer, Lennon was recruited to sing the love song.

As she took to the stage tonight, viewers couldn’t believe how much she looks like his ex.

"Who’s the Cheryl lookalike??" one viewer tweeted.

"I have to admit I do like that Polaroid song but I would of loved to have heard Cheryl’s version with Liam," another added.

A third viewer tweeted: "Does anyone else think that Cheryl’s sat at home throwing daggers at Lennon Stella on TV and wishing Liam Payne didn’t look so damn hot!"

The X Factor appearance comes on the same night Cheryl has taken drastic action on social media to wipe the slate clean after a difficult year.

She has deleted all of her Instagram posts – including the tender picture of Liam Payne holding Bear that announced her son’s birth a year ago.

The only clue about the 35-year-old’s current mood is the bio.

Gone is the sweet "Living in a love bubble" sentiment from before her break-up with Liam Payne, 25.

Instead, her bio now cryptically reads: "#LoveMadeMeDoIt ¯\_(ツ)_/¯."

Cheryl has been keeping a low profile since her split from Liam Payne in July.

Though she has spent much of the last year shunning the limelight, Cheryl is poised to make a dramatic comeback with the launch of her new solo material.

It’s expected the singer will release her first single in four years soon.

Love Made Me Do It is said to comment on the breakdown of Cheryl’s relationship with former partner Liam, with whom she shares one-year-old son Bear.

So far Cheryl has remained tight-lipped on the split, though Liam has been dropping clues as to what really went down between the pair behind closed doors.

During an appearance at the Radio 1 Teen Awards at the weekend the former One Direction star hinted Cheryl had been the one to call time on their two year romance.

n an interview, Liam, 25, said getting dumped was ‘the story of his life.’

After telling a story how a ‘cringey’ romantic gesture he made as a teenager failed to land him a date, Liam said: "The story of my bloody life if I’m honest, it happens to me loads. It’s what seems to happen."
