Lewis Hamilton, 34, shared a sweet moment with two of the most important women in his life to mark Mother’s Day. The sports icon posted a message to honour both his mum, Carmen Lockhart, 62, and step-mum, Linda Hamilton, 54. The adorable images show the Formula One star engaging in a group hug with his family members after a race, followed by snaps of him embracing his mum and step-mum. The throwback pictures were originally taken in Shanghai in 2008, just before Lewis became the youngest F1 champion in history.
Posting the tribute to his 10.3 million followers, Lewis captioned the photos: “Happy Mother’s Day to the women who have provided me with unconditional love, warmth and guidance my entire life.
“To all the mums out there doing their best raising your children, today is for you.”
Many of Lewis’ 10.3 million followers were quick to share their thoughts on his adorable statement in the comments section.
One wrote: “Behind every great man is a strong woman.”
Another added: “These photos are beautiful.”
A third commented: “Beautiful! Love and cherish your moms everyday, Champ!!”

However, some of Lewis’ American followers dissolved into a panic following the star’s declaration, as confusion ensued over the difference in dates between Mother’s Day in the UK and the US.
An American fan commented: “You almost gave me a heart attack.. I’m like how the hell I forget Mother’s Day.. Guess it’s a UK thing.”
Another exclaimed: “Good lord man…thought I was in the dog house. That’s one day you can’t miss.”
Lewis grew up with his biological mother Carmen until he was 12-years-old.
The world championship winner then moved in with his father Anthony Hamilton and stepmother Linda.
Lewis has remained close with his two mums, crediting them for supporting his dreams and championing him in his success.
The British Mercedes-AMG racing driver previously mentioned his mum Carmen in honour of International Women’s Day back in 2018.
He shared an image of her cuddling a lion cub with the caption: “Happy International Women’s Day to all the women across the world. I have such admiration for what women have been achieving, for making a stand and for constantly breaking down barriers.
“Continue to shine your beautiful light and do not let anybody particularly a man tell you you can’t do or be something. Picture attached is the one and only and most important woman in my life, my mum #internationalwomensday #lovetoall.”
Lewis is set to take on another challenge against rivals Ferrari this afternoon, after placing third in the qualifying rounds yesterday.
The star’s Mercedes team admitted to Sky Sports F1 that they have been “massively outperformed” by their opponents at Bahrain, but they are still hoping for victory in today’s race.
