Every time Leslie Jones wears an outfit designed by Christian Siriano, customers just can’t get enough.
“Certain celebrities, when they wear clothes, people immediately want it,” Siriano, 32, told People. “Our wildcard is when we dress Leslie. She’s my hype woman.”
The two first started collaborating in 2016, after the 51-year-old “Ghostbusters” star complained on social media that nobody would dress her for the film’s premiere and Siriano came to her rescue.
“We’ve sold hundreds of that red gown,” the designer revealed of the resulting outfit.
It certainly helps that Jones, as a woman of color above the age of 50 and a size four, is part of a demographic that’s typically underserved in the fashion community — and one that Siriano is known for purposefully championing.
The famously enthusiastic comedian is also a vocal fan of the designer’s, often sharing her outfits on Instagram with captions like “Man I look good” or “I’m 51 and slaying.”
Over the past few years, Jones has worn Siriano’s looks for major red-carpet events like the Emmys and the Time 100 gala, which the two attended together after the “Saturday Night Live” fixture penned a tribute to the designer for the magazine’s annual list.
“That’s the specialness of Christian Siriano: he makes every piece feel like you are supposed to have it and like it was made for you,” Jones wrote. “Oh, and he invited me to my first fashion show, where I got to yell like I was at a Yankees game — thanks, Christian!”
