Not only did the performance set social media alight, but it got a standing ovation from the star-studded Academy Awards audience. In fact, not just one standing ovation, but — remarkably — two, as video shot by one Hollywood Reporter writer shows that Gaga and Bradley received a standing ovation at the end of their performance … and another standing ovation during the commercial break when Bradley helped Gaga from the stage and back to her seat.
Interestingly, during her performance, Gaga chose to wear an enormous 129 carat yellow diamond necklace from Tiffany’s that she had also worn on the red carpet. The diamond necklace was not only reportedly the most expensive piece of jewelry every worn to the Oscars, it’s price tag of around $30 million was almost the same as the entire budget for A Star Is Born.
Later during the show, Gaga would go on to win the Oscar in the category of ‘Best Original Song’ for “Shallow,” along with co-writers Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and Anthony Rossomando.
You can check out the performance — as well as footage of the second ovation — in the videos below.
