Kylie Jenner donates $1 million to Australian bushfire relief after stirring controversy with now-deleted social media posts showing mink fur slippers and a caption about ‘finding your fire’
It’s a charged time to say the least, and this social media superstar is trying to make things right after getting some attention she didn’t want.
A source has told DailyMail.com that cosmetics mogul and self-made billionaire Kylie Jenner has donated $1 million to several relief organizations in Australia that are scrambling to help the country amid widespread destructive bushfires.
The contribution comes just one day after Jenner, 22, landed in the hotseat for what many fans deemed an insensitive concurrence of posts, one reading ‘this breaks my heart’ below an image of a burned koala and the text ‘over half a BILLION animals’ being killed by the wildfires, and the other a snap of her ‘baby pink toes’ peaking out from Louis Vuitton slippers — made from real mink fur.
Making it right: Self-made billionaire Kylie Jenner has donated $1 million to several relief organizations in Australia after stirring some unwanted controversy
A source close to Jenner spoke to People about the social media shares, identifying it as nothing more than an unfortunate coincidence.
‘That post was completely unintentional,’ the insider said. ‘Kylie stands behind her desire to want to help provide relief towards the devastation the fires have caused.’
But the troubles for Kylie didn’t end there, as also on Monday she shared a glamorous photo of herself sitting in front of a fireplace and captioned it ‘find ur fire’ alongside a fire emoji and a yellow love heart.
When a fan’s comment mentioned the disaster unfolding in Australia, Kylie seemingly had second thoughts and quickly edited the caption to, ‘night out’ and deleted the fire emoji.

The comment read, ‘If anyone needs fire… you can have ours – Australia.’
And Kylie isn’t the only one of her sisters engaged in controversy surrounding the situation in Australia.
Jenner’s sisters Kim Kardashian-West and Khloé Kardashian hit back at trolls who had unfairly criticized the family for their apparent lack of concern for the Australian bushfires.

On Sunday, Kim put a stop to it when she hit back at a hater on Twitter.
The 39-year-old replied to a now-deleted tweet that claimed the family had not donated a dime.
‘Nothing gets me more heated than to see the Kardashians/Jenners talk about climate change/wildfires and not donate even a penny,’ the user had written, tagging the entire family.
Kim responded in kind: ‘Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything.’

And while many went on to praise Kim for her clapback, others called her hypocritical for continuing to wear fur and ride private jets.
One wrote: ‘You publicize everything else tho AND STILL WEAR FUR…AND TAKE PRIVATE JETS…wild.’
Another tweeted: ‘A girl selling her nudes online has almost made 17k to help with the Australian fires and the Kardashians only been tweeting emojis do ya’ll see why I’m angry.’
And Khloé, 35, defended Kim on Monday morning as well, first retweeting her sister’s post before adding a bible quote.
Not so fast: Kim Kardashian-West has hit back at trolls who had unfairly criticized the family for their apparent lack of concern for the Australian bushfires
‘Modern King James Version. Therefore when you do your merciful deeds, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward,’ she began.
So far, the Australian bushfires have killed 25 people, destroyed more than 2,000 homes and torn through more than seven million hectares of land.
An estimated half a billion animals have already been wiped out in the blazes, which have been burning through much of the east coast of Australia since October.
The fires are expected to continue to burn for at least another two months.
