Celebrities from Rihanna to 50 Cent are grieving the death of Kim Porter, the ex of Sean “Diddy” Combs, after Porter’s untimely death in LA at age 46 this week.
Rihanna posted on Instagram, “We lost a real one today, beautiful inside and out. So many will be affected by this, some won’t even know why… but the whole world was graced by the vibrance in your spirit. My deepest condolences to the ones that were blessed enough to know, meet, and love her! Such a special soul man! This don’t even feel real! May God comfort and protect her children and loved ones!”
Janelle Monáe posted, “You were a champion of women in the industry. YOU WERE A BOSS moving through this life with so much style and grace… You were light. You were supportive. You were stunning. You were kind ALWAYS. You were creative. You were as real as they came. You were an incredible mother. You were rare.” And Vivica A. Fox posted a pic with Porter and added, “#RESTINPARADISE QUEEN KIM!” 50 Cent, Viola Davis, Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz all posted emotional messages and words support to Porter’s family.
Porter and Combs began dating in the mid-1990s and their relationship ended for good in 2007. They had three children — Jessie James, D’Lila, and Christian — together. Porter also had a son, Quincy, from her relationship with R&B crooner Al B. Sure. Diddy adopted Quincy.
TMZ reported that law enforcement said that authorities were called to Porter’s LA home on Thursday, and that a 911 call described “a patient in cardiac arrest.” A source further told the site that Porter had been suffering from pneumonia for weeks, but that it was still unclear how she died.
We hear that an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Porter appeared on the covers of Runway and Essence magazines and acted in TV shows including “Law & Order” and “Wicked Wicked Games.”
A rep confirmed to Page Six on Thursday, “Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter. I ask that you give the families privacy at this time.”
