Kesha shared an acoustic video for her new single, “Here Comes the Change,” earlier this week. The track will be featured in the forthcoming motion picture, On The Basis of Sex.
In the latest video, Kesha is shown performing the song in front of a group of students.
Last month, Kesha had dropped the official music video for “Here Comes the Change,” a black-and-white video, in which the singer is seen playing the guitar, harmonica and bass-drum as a one-woman band, singing: “Hold on tight you’ll be alright/You know it’s time/Here comes the change.”
Directed by Mimi Leder, On the Basis of Sex revolves around the career of the Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she attempts to upturn centuries of gender discrimination in the U.S laws along with husband Armie Hammer. Playing 25-year-old Ginsburg is Oscar-nominee, Felicity Jones. The movie opens in limited theaters on December 25.
“When I was first approached to write a song for the movie, I thought I was the wrong person for the job. For me, songwriting is such a personal process and it is almost always inspired by things I’ve experienced in my own life. The idea that I should be writing about someone else’s life, and that person would be Ruth Bader Ginsburg, was intimidating,” Kesha wrote in an essay for Refinery 29.
“But after seeing the film, I was inspired. It was amazing to see Ginsburg’s story of leading a campaign that successfully changed laws that discriminated against Americans purely on the basis of their sex, as the film title suggests,” she continued.
