Justin and Britney dated as teenagers after meeting at The Mickey Mouse Club and were an iconic star duo.

They split abruptly in 2002 and rumors soon emerged that she’d cheated on him.

His career soared. Albums and songs were promoted under the narrative that Spears broke his heart. In the music video for his 2002 hit Cry Me A River, he even used a Britney lookalike. Britney was vilified for their break-up.

The book will also go into detail about the longtime conservatorship Spears lived under that father Jamie Spears controlled from 2008 until 2021.

The book’s summary reads: ‘A brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope’.

Spears announced she was writing a book in February of 2022 in an Instagram post.

‘Well I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life … I’ve never been able to express openly!!!’ she said.

The Toxic artist addressed fans on the status of the forthcoming tome, as well as the delays, via social media this past May.

‘I almost feel like my life in the business has always been that girl at school who was bullied and laughed at!!!’ she said. ‘But in my case there is no superior person to set it straight!!!’

She continued: ‘I think some people are wanting to hear my story … either through a book or what have you??? I’ve had to stop a couple of times!!! It may take me a year, maybe longer who knows … to share my story !!!’

Spears has hired Oscar-nominated actress, Michelle Williams, to narrate the audiobook for her upcoming memoir titled.

The Baby One More Time hitmaker, has recorded a small portion of the book and avoided narrating chapters discussing her family due to the content being ‘too painful to retell,’ TMZ recently reported.

In a statement to People published on Friday, the performer expressed, ‘This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it.’

Spears continued, ‘Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook.’

The star then gushed, ‘I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it,’ with The Fabelmans actress, 43, also telling the outlet in support of the songstress, ‘I stand with Britney.’

Insiders also explained that the star chose to not narrate chapters that discuss her family ‘because she found them too painful to retell in her own words.’

Initially – the publisher Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster – had aimed to get Legally Blonde actress Reese Witherspoon to take part in the audio recording of the book. However, she was not ‘available’ to take on the job.

Back in August, Spears’ husband Sam Asghari notably filed for divorce from Spears after a little over one year of marriage. He cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split and is asking for spousal support from the performer, as well as coverage for his legal fees.

Due to an ‘iron-clad prenup,’ Sam will not profit on her upcoming memoir. He is mentioned in the book, but ‘not a lot,’ a source recently told DailyMail.com.

However, sources told TMZ that the singer made ‘some changes’ to the memoir following their separation.

When she spoke out about the divorce for the first time since the divorce news came to light, Britney admitted that she was ‘a little shocked’ but ‘couldn’t take the pain anymore…’

The star later expressed that she would focus on staying ‘strong’ and concluded with, ‘And I’m actually doing pretty d**n good!!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile!!!’

Asghari has previously claimed that Britney had gotten ‘physical’ with him on various occasions during the course of their relationship. The pair notably first met on set of her 2016 music video, Slumber Party.
