Jason Derulo is well and truly throwing himself into the CATS promotion tour, and is also living up to the name of his character Rum Tum Tugger, in that he will quite simply not quit talking about his dick.
During an interview with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM, Derulo commented that his character’s crotch has been edited since the first trailer for the movie came out. “They CGI-ed the dick out,” he said, adding: “Yeah, they did CGI. I noticed that… 125 percent. I can see it in the trailer, for sure.”
Plenty has already been said about the baffling creative decision to give these anthropomorphic felines the secondary sexual characteristics of human beings (Taylor Swift’s cat boobs are either the stuff of nightmares or a burgeoning fetish, depending on your disposition). It is possible that, if Derulo is correct and his Rum Tum Tugger has been subjected to CGI chicanery in the window between the trailer dropping and the movie opening, it was an attempt on the part of the studio to lessen the sexualized nature of the cats in the movie.
Of course, this is the second time in as many months that the singer’s bulge has caused controversy. After sending the internet into a vortex of thirst with a poolside photo in which his dickprint was not only visible but so clearly outlined you could do a rubbing with charcoal and tracing paper, Derulo was shocked when Instagram deemed the photo in violation of its community guidelines on nudity and sexual activity, and removed it.
The platform claimed the image showed “aroused genitalia,” to which Derulo earnestly replied that he cannot help his size, and implied that the social media app was dickscriminating against him. He posted the pic again, with the offending section of the image covered by a sandwich, accompanied by the caption: “Is this better?”
It remains unclear at this time whether the dickscourse surrounding Jason D-rulo will continue into 2020, although it’s likely that there will be plenty more to parse once everyone has seen Cats over the holidays.
