Singer Jamelia has told how she let her daughters watch Celebrity Big Brother last week to show them the dangers of making false allegations.
Her comments came after Roxanne Pallett issued a public apology for claiming Ryan Thomas had ‘deliberately’ punched her in the house.
Appearing alongside Roxanne on Monday’s the Jeremy Vine show, Jamelia said she hoped her girls Tiania, 12, and Teja, 16, would learn from her mistakes.
"Being honest, I actually made my daughters watch the episodes because I thought as awful as this situation was it’s an example of what not to do," she said.
"I don’t know how it feels to hear that from me, but I want you to know that I do actually think some good could come of this situation," she told Roxanne.
Jamelia then said she admired and respect Roxanne for appearing on television days after she quit t he Channel 5 reality series in order to explain her actions.
"I think it’s very important that you’ve apologised," said Jamelia.
The mum then urged Roxanne to get help.
"You need help to deal with these emotions," she said. "It was so heartbreaking to see the impact you had on Ryan.
"I saw what you did to him as an act of violence and I can’t imagine being in your shoes."
Roxanne appeared on the Channel 5 talk show and gave an emotional to Ryan and his family and friends.
She said she’d completely ‘over reacted’ after Ryan’s playful punch.
""At that moment, because I am a sensitive, I mistook what was playful," she said.
She continued: "It’s the word ‘deliberate’ I regret. I doubted his intentions. There’s no malicious intent in that. I questioned his motivation. I got it wrong.
"He couldn’t disprove his intentions and I couldn’t disprove the feeling."
Roxanne then explained: "My judgement was clouded. My sensitivity was heightened. I wasn’t thinking straight. That’s something I need to go back and think on to become a better person."
Big Brother continues tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm
