In Elle Cover Story, Selena Gomez Finally Breaks Her Silence on Demi Lovato’s Suspected Overdose

Selena Gomez is on the cover of Elle Magazine‘s October issue. In the issue’s cover story, Selena for the first time breaks her silence on Demi Lovato’s suspected overdose.

The interview for the cover story was done only six days after Demi was rescued by EMTs from her home, and the Elle reporter says that as Gomez started to speak about Demi, she got “choked up.” But it also seemed as if the reporter was pushing Selena to comment beyond what she was willing to speak about.

“All I’m saying is,” Selena told the reporter, “I reached out personally. I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to.”

And on her feelings for Demi? “I love her,” Selena said. “I’ve known her since I was seven. So … it’s … that’s what I’ll say.”

The interview also touched on her volunteer work with the anti-human-trafficking group, A21, for which Selena, according to local eye-witness reports from fans, spent time in Bulgaria and Greece. However, other than describing the building that the group uses for its Los Angeles office, very little information came out about Selena’s work for the group.

The article seemingly most wanted to talk about Selena’s “downsizing” her life to have more control over things, selling off three homes and moving into one with a roommate. The article makes a rare mention of Selena’s attending Los Angeles’ Hillsong Church, the same denomination that her ex Justin Bieber belongs to. However, again, little detail was forthcoming.
