Holly Willoughby: Tamzin Outhwaite addresses This Morning star’s ‘cousin’ revelation

Holly Willoughby, 38, caused quite a stir when she previously revealed EastEnders favourite Tamzin Outhwaite, 48, was her cousin. The actress has now discussed the palaver caused by the news in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk. The soap star firstly explained how the This Morning favourite joined her family when she tied the knot with her first cousin, Dan Baldwin, 44. Tamzin then addressed the stunned reaction from fans, saying: “I wasn’t surprised at all, people don’t know everything about everyone.

“It’s a very big world but it’s also a very small world.”

Holly first made the revelation about the Mel Owen star in view of her 5.5 million Instagram followers when she shared a family snap over Christmas in 2017.

Posing with the soap icon and her Italian grandmother Nonna, Holly captioned the post: “Me and @glamzin and our Nonna Matriarch! In true #eastendersstyle… faaaaamly! Xxx FYI.., @glamzin is my cousin.”(sic)

The presenter’s admission appeared to confuse fans, who took to the comments section to air their shock.

One wrote: “Oh wow. I never knew that!”

A second attempted to correct the star, writing: “She’s technically your cousin-in-law! xxx.”

A third added: “Tamzin is Dan’s (Holly’s husband’s) cousin not Holly’s. Confused AF but whatever.”(sic)

Speculation from her followers prompted Holly to clarify exactly how she was related to Tamzin during an episode of This Morning.

The Celebrity Juice team captain revealed in reference to the actress: “Well, she’s my husband Dan’s cousin. It’s family init!”

Earlier this year, Tamzin paid tribute to Holly and her cousin Dan in a sweet Instagram post from the National Television Awards.

Snapping a selfie alongside the blonde beauty and her other half at the event, the EastEnders star added the caption: “Famalam @hollywilloughby #danbaldwin@officialntas.”(sic)

Tamzin also took the opportunity to reflect on her recent comeback to her role as Mel Owen in EastEnders after a 16-year break.

The actress exclusively admitted to Express.co.uk: “Well it’s been 16 years since I was in it.

“But I’ve been back now for a year and a half, so for me it sounds like a cliche but it just feels like home.”

She then spoke out about the BBC series’ new senior executive producer Kate Oates, 40, and Executive Producer Jon Sen, 44.

Tamzin divulged to Express.co.uk: She’s [Kate] lovely. She’s a very experienced powerful woman.

“Our new boss Jon Sen is also someone I’ve worked with a long time ago, he’s a great director as well as being a leader now.”

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
