Harry Jokes About Meghan's Baby Bump: "There's a Big Baby in There"

Meghan Markle is due to have her first child with Prince Harry this spring, but she’s not slowing down on the royal work load just yet. Today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a formal engagement together: the Endeavour Fund Awards, which honor ill and injured veterans who’ve used sport in their recovery.

Although the future parents were in work mode, their baby was still on their minds. While speaking to an award nominee ahead of the ceremony, Meghan said Harry is going to be “the best dad,” according to ITV News’ Lizzie Robertson. Her husband also commented on her baby bump, joking that “there’s a big baby in there,” Robertson added.

The Duchess of Sussex looked elegant in a classic Givenchy look, which consisted of a crisp white shirt tucked into a long skirt with a leg slit. (She seemed to channel her style icon, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, with the elegant outfit.)

During the ceremony, Meghan delivered a speech where she honored the nominees for the “ripple effect” their achievements have had on other people. “You don’t have that ripple effect unless each of you is brave enough to make that first wave,” she said. “And it is so important to remember that, because what you’re doing is inspiring so many people. So thank you, from all of us, for being that inspiration, and congratulations to all of the nominees.”

She presented the Celebrating Excellence Award to an honoree named Nathan Forster. He who was hit by an IED bomb while serving in Afghanistan in 2011, resulting in a “fused ankle with limited movement,” according to royal correspondent Omid Scobie.
