Lorraine: Lee MacDonald and Erkan Mustafa discuss Grange Hill
Actor George Armstrong has died after a long battle with Leukemia. He was 60 years old.
A statement from a fan account on Twitter reads: “I’ve just heard the very sad news that George Armstrong aka Alan Humphries passed away yesterday.
“RIP George. A true Grange Hill legend xxxx.”
Fans of the star have shared their tributes on Twitter following the news.
Grassroots North Wales wrote: “Sad times, George Armstrong (Alan Humphries) from Grange Hill has passed away after a long illness.

“Thanks for all the entertainment and RIP.
Simon London commented: “Absolutely gutted to hear the news about George Armstrong.
“Grange Hill was the only TV show when I was a kid starring people that looked and sounded like me and my friends which made Alan a big brother to all of us. Sleep well mate!”
Erkan Mustafa typed: “RIP George Armstrong another Grange Hill legend taken from us.”

She tweeted: “Very sad to learn of the passing of this lovely man.
“R.I.P. George Armstrong, who many will remember as #GrangeHill’s Alan Humphries xx #70s #80s.”
George’s first big role was in Grange Hill in which he starred in 45 episodes from 1978 to 1982.
He continued playing the character in Tucker’s Luck, a spin-off of the school drama.
From 1989, he starred as P.C Driscoll in television series The Bill.
