Ferne McCann is preparing for the arrival of her second child – her first with fiancé Lorri Haines.
And as she celebrates Mother's Day with OK! – the former TOWIE star tells us of her birth plans, including her hopes for a home birth and why she won't find out the gender of her child during pregnancy.
“We made the decision in the end not to find out [the gender] because I didn’t find out with Sunday,” she told us. “I loved that moment of surprise and I felt nobody could take that away from me.
“Lorri found out with Noah [his son from a previous relationship], so it’s really nice to have that surprise. I don’t have any inkling whatsoever. My preference is for a girl, but that’s just because I can see myself with girls because I have Sunday. But really, I’m not bothered so long as it’s healthy.”
Ferne's ITVBe show First Time Mum is in it's 10th season and in our interview the 32 year old hinted the birth of her second child may be filmed for her fly-on-the-wall series.
“I really want that moment on camera and filmed for me personally,” she revealed.
“And because it’s such a special moment, I’d love to share it with the First Time Mum audience. I guess they’ve been on the whole journey with us.”
Ferne shared her pregnancy joy with OK! and exclusively confirmed for the first time she was expecting.
She told us of the moment she discovered she was pregnant, right after a romantic trip with Lorri to India.
“I knew I was pregnant – I just knew. All the tell-tale signs were there. I missed a period and I couldn’t even touch my boobs because they were so painful.”
Upon returning to the UK, she did a test, which confirmed her suspicions.
“I just sat on the toilet with the door open and was like, ‘I knew it! It’s positive!’" she said. "It wasn’t this romantic, tears streaming-down-my-face thing. We were so happy. It wasn’t planned, but it wasn’t not planned. For us both being parents, they’re little miracles and it was such a positive moment and something to look forward to for us.”
She also revealed she would "love" a home birth.
“I had a smooth and lovely birth with Sunday and I did the majority of my labour at my mum’s house," she explained. "It was just the delivery that I did at the hospital. I would love to have the pool, but Lorri’s worried about the mess.”
