Before and after: Last year, James’ weight ballooned to 27 stone after he replaced his cocaine habit with unhealthy eating (pictured before left). Arg has lost 13 stone following his gastric sleeve surgery last April

James had his vehicle for years and was regularly spotted driving the vehicle around Essex and London.

But his experience on the road has been plagued with accidents as previous to the latest collision, he was left with a fractured shoulder in October 2018 after another crash.

Last month, James opened up about his relapse after suffering a ‘blip’ which saw him break two years of sobriety during a night out with friends.

He told the Loose Women that he was ‘feeling okay’ again after ‘getting cocky and confident’ with his sobriety, which he explained triggered his lapse.

James, who is currently single, spoke of feeling isolated in his big Essex pad without a significant other or any sort of structure, as he told the hosts: ‘My chaos starts when I’m indoors, bored, lonely.’

Discussing how he has been getting on, James said: ‘I’m feeling good, I’m feeling okay. It was a shock to the system a few weeks ago…

‘I was clean and sober just over two years, I had to learn a very hard tough lesson, I haven’t let it get me down. It was a blip, I nipped in a bud but got straight back on it and doing well.

When asked what triggered the setback, James said: ‘It could be a number of things. I feel that I started getting complacent. What went against me was I too confident and too cocky. If you asked me a few months ago, I would have put my house on never drinking again.’

Depicting the steps towards his relapse, James said: ‘I stopped going to meetings, stopped going counselling and therapy. I got complacent.

‘You don’t just reach out and go rehab for a month, you have to have help for the rest of your life. You need to practice what you preach, I’m good at helping others but I should do something myself.’

When pressed on how it happened and if someone had ‘bought him a drink, Arg explained: ‘I don’t want to go into something too much as it’s personal…

‘But you do get cravings. I started to get cravings over the summer, even after being sober for such a long time…

‘I wasn’t well as I gained 11 stone in lockdown, then had gastric band and food was taken away from me. then all of a sudden not drinking, and no food, it was ‘aaah’.

‘I feel physically confident and happy but should have been more aware of myself, been prepared and more organised.’

Explaining that feeling lonely may have played a part, he said: ‘I’m an extrovert, I need to be around people all time.

In 2019 James was hospitalised twice after overdosing on drugs at his home.

The scare was said to a ‘wake-up call’ to James who then ‘accepted he needs professional help’.

Arg has battled drink and drug addiction since finding fame on TOWIE and in 2014 he was suspended from the show after he failed a routine drugs test.

The TV star spent three months in a facility in Thailand over the festive season in 2016 in order to get the ‘ongoing support’ he needed.

In August 2019, Arg returned to rehab following a split from Gemma Collins in a bid to tackle his demons.

He completed a third stint in treatment in 2020 prior to undergoing gastric bypass surgery.

Last year, James’ weight ballooned to 27 stone after he replaced his cocaine habit with unhealthy eating.

He has since lost a staggering 13 stone after surgery saw 70 percent of his stomach removed in the £10,000 operation.
