The actor, 28, said he wouldn’t change the struggle he faced during his childhood because they made him who he is today. When he was three-months-old, a car hit Jay Kontzle’s mother and his pram ploughed into a shop window. At four-years-old, he lost his mum when she died in a car accident. The Emmerdale star was subsequently raised by his grandparents. “I was lucky I had someone to look after me,” he told this week’s OK! Magazine.

“I find it easier to overcome things.
“You’re going to go through bigger things when you lose someone or someone is ill,” the Emmerdale star continued. “People become too focused on the small stuff.
“Even when I had issues when I was really young, I wouldn’t take them away because it’s made me who I am today.
