Dr. Dre says NFL only made ‘minor’ changes to halftime show and addresses Eminem taking a knee in support of Colin Kaepernick
Dr. Dre said that officials with the NFL requested only a few changes ahead of the star-studded Super Bowl halftime show he led at at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Sunday.
The Compton, California native, 56, spoke with TMZ after the performance, which also featured Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar.
‘There were a few things that we had to change but it was like really minor things,’ the Keep Their Heads Ringin’ performer told the outlet Monday in a remote appearance.

The Beats Electronics founder said that feathers weren’t ruffled over Eminem taking a knee in his performance as a nod to former NFL player Colin Kaepernick.
‘Em taking the knee, that was him doing that on his own and there was no problem with that,’ said the rap veteran, whose real name is Andre Young.
The Forgot About Dre said some changes were made to Lamar’s material, which included references to Los Angeles gangs.
‘They had a problem with that so we had to take that out – no big deal, we get it,’ he said.

Dr. Dre said all of the performers put their best foot forward for the memorable ensemble performance.
‘All in all, everybody came in, we were professional, everybody was on time and everybody really felt the magnitude of what this thing was and what we were going to be able to accomplish and it was a fantastic experience,’ he said.
Dr. Dre told the outlet that he indulged in a fast food treat after an extended stretch of physical preparation for the halftime show.
‘Do you know what, my trainer’s gonna be upset about this now,’ he said. ‘I went to McDonald’s – there’s something about those McDonald’s french fries, I’m like, “I deserve it today, I’m going to treat myself and go in and pig out today.”‘
Dr. Dre said all of the performers, including Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, put their best foot forward for the memorable ensemble performance

Dr. Dre said that after the game, he went to his Southern California home where he ‘had a house full of amazing talent’ including Blige and actor Oscar-nominee Don Cheadle, who he called one of his ‘favorite actors.’
He added: ‘Let me tell you man, everybody was extremely excited, Mary came back here to the house and we went downstairs to the studio and she was playing me samples … because we’re talking about working together on her next project, I’m not even sure if I’m supposed to be saying this or not, I’m sorry Mary.
‘I’m excited about it, we’re talking about working on her next project and we were downstairs having a ton of fun, just listening to samples and music and playing around like that.’
